AT 3:00 O'CLOCK FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING: <br />1. LICENSE TAX <br />2. CITY-STATE OFFICERS. <br />BY ORDER OF <br />M.- M. _PENCE ( S I GNED) <br />CLERK <br />S. F. AMM ONED} <br />PRESIDENT <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WAS HELD ON THIS DATE WITH <br />THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS PRESENT: MR. BARR, MR. HADEN, MR. HAMM, <br />MR. HILL AND MR. TEBELL. ABSENT: NONE. <br />A MATTER WITH RESPECT TO AN UPWARD ADJUSTMENT IN SALARIES OF <br />CITY-STATE OFFICES WAS PRESENTED. IT WAS POINTED OUT THAT A MODEST <br />COST OF LIVING INCREASE HAD RECENTLY BEEN GRANTED MONTHLY CITY <br />EMPLOYEES AND IT WAS THOUGHT THAT AN ADJUSTMENT IN SALARIES OF <br />CITY-STATE EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE GIVEN CONSIDERATION. AFTER CONSIDER- <br />ABLE DISCUSSION IT WAS THE SENSE OF THE COUNCIL THAT A SALARY <br />INCREASE SHOULD BE PERMITTED IN THE CASE OF CITY-STATE EMPLOYEES. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. HADEN, SECONDED BY MR. TEBELL, THE FOLLOWING <br />MATTER RE: <br />SALARY INCREASES RESOLUTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br />CITY-STATE OFFICES. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT THE STATE COMPENSATION BOARD <br />BE AND THEY ARE HEREBY REQUESTED TO CONCUR WITH THE <br />ACTION OF THIS COUNCIL IN GRANTING A 5% INCREASE IN <br />THE SALARIES OF THE CITY TREASURER, THE COMMISSIONER <br />OF REVENUE AND THEIR EMPLOYEES, AND THE SALARY OF THE <br />COMMONWEALTH S ATTORNEY EFFECTIVE AS OF THE FIRST OF <br />FEBRUARY, 1952. <br />ON ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE FOR IMPOSING AND COLLECTING <br />LICENSES AND TAXES FOR THE EXERCISE OF CERTAIN PR I.V I LEGES WITHIN <br />ORDINANCE RE: THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE FOR TWELVE MONTHS COMMENCING THE <br />LICENSES 8: TAXES <br />CARRIED OVER FIRST DAY OF MAY, 1952 AND ENDING THE THIRTIETH DAY OF APRIL, 1953", <br />WAS OFFERED BY MR. HADEN, SECONDED BY MR. TEBELL, READ, AND CARRIED <br />OVER FOR CONSIDERATION. <br />N MOTION THE MEETING ADJOURNED. <br />CLERK PRESIDENT <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - MARCH 3, 1952 <br />THE COUNCIL MET IN REGULAR SESSION ON THIS DATE WITH THE <br />FOLLOWING MEMBERS PRESENT: MR. BARR , MR. HADEN , MR. HAMM, MR. HILL <br />AND MR. TEBELL. ABSENT: NONE. <br />THE MINUTES OF THE MEETINGS OF FEBRUARY 180 1952 AND FEBRUARY <br />25, 1952 WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br />ON MOTION CLAIMS AGAINST THE DOG FUND OF MRS. E. H. CLARKE <br />CLAIM AGAINST FOR $32.50 AND ''MRS. tJANNY G. WONDREE FOR $7.50 WERE ORDERED PAID. <br />DOG FUND <br />ON MOTION COUNTY WATER CONNECTION FOR CARL E.
