wrought iron pipe with screw joints properly secured, <br />and carried five feet outside of house walls, and all ar- <br />rangemeatts of soil or waste pipes shall be as direct as <br />possible. All change iu direction on horizontal pipes shall <br />be inade with '%Y" branches: all other change., shall be <br />made with curved pipes, and where such pipes pass <br />through a foundation wall a two-inch clearance above and <br />on each side of main f;ipe shall be provided for. All <br />vest pipes in any building must be exte, ded two feet <br />above the roof of nnain building, and aoove the top of <br />any window in said roof. The diameter of any soil pipe <br />should not be less than four inches. <br />SEC. 16 —All joints iii iron drain pipes, soil and waste <br />pipes, must've either screw jo�inis tightly drawn ftp witli <br />red lead, or must be filled with oaknnr and lean and hand <br />caulked so its to make thein gas tight. All conuectioas <br />of lead with iron pipes unust be made with. brass sleeve <br />or ferules of the same size as the lead pipe, put in the <br />liub of the branrin of the iron ppe, and caulked with <br />lead. Tlne lead must be attactied to tite ferule by a wi ptcd <br />or over cast joint. All connections of lead waste pipes <br />shall be made by means of wiped joints. <br />SEC 17 —In every water closet, urinal, sink, 'basin, <br />wash -tray, bath, and every tub or set of tubs, the waste <br />pipe must be separately and effectively- trapped and vcn- <br />tilat,d, unless the sanne shall be within ten feet of the <br />main soil pipe and approved anti -syphon trap be wsed, <br />Traps must be placed as near the fixtures as practicable, <br />and in no case shall the waste from the bath tub or och- <br />er fixtares be connected with a water closet trap. There <br />shall be no traps, caps or cowls on soil or waste pipes <br />which shall interfere with the system of . entilatioit <br />Sn. 18 —All soil, waste, anti syphotning pipes and <br />traps, before being connected with fixtures, shall have <br />openings stopped and be tested for inspection by filling <br />them with water from the highest point and allowing <br />the water to stand in thein until the lospection is com- <br />pleted and all leaks caulked, or by a tttoitoitietor of ten <br />pounds per square inch pressure, and all leaks stopped. <br />SEC. t9.—No pan or Hopper closet shall be set up in <br />any building. Every water closet or line of water <br />closets,on ilne same floor,shall be supplied with water from <br />a special water closet tank or cistern (the water of which <br />is not used for any other purpose,) except where the sup- <br />
