<br />The Council met in regular session on this date with the following members
<br />present: Mr. Adams, Mr. Gleason, fir. Nash, Mr. Tebell, and Mr. Watson.

<br />Minutes of the meeting of December 16, 1946 were read and approved.
<br />Mr. H. A. Haden and Mr. George T. Huff addressed the Council and presented a
<br />petition requesting that Section 7 of Chapter 3 of the City Code be amended so that
<br />livestock could be kept at the livestock market over night for one night a week.
<br />Livestock After considerable discussion the following resolution, offered by Mr. Watson, second -

<br />ed by Mr. Tebell, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Gleason,
<br />Mr. :Nash, Mr. Tebelll and Mr. Watson. Noes: Mr. Adams.
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville
<br />that the City offer to purchase the buildings and pens of the Albemarle
<br />Livestock Market, Inc., at a price of $,4,000.00, provided the City can
<br />secure from the C&O Railway Company, a lease to extend to January 1, 1948
<br />under the same terms as the present lease, and on condition that the City
<br />• lease thero erty purchased to the Albemarle Livestock Market, Inc. for

<br />a period not longer than until January 1, 1948 at a rent not to exceed
<br />the present rental.
