RESOLUTION RE: <br />ACCEPTING CERTAIN <br />STREETS INTO CITY <br />SYSTEM <br /> <br />ORDINANCE RE~ <br />ANENDING ORDINANCE <br />PROVIDING FOR BURIAL <br />OF URNS <br /> <br />ORDINANCE RE: <br />CONDEMNING UNFIT <br />BUILDINGS <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />JULIUS L. LiVELY~ JR., HAVE CONTRACTED TO SELL SAID PARCEL <br />AND IMPROVEMENTS TO JANE M, PLUMB~ AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, SAID STRUCTURES DO NOT IMPEDE THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC <br />ON RIVES STREET; AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THE CITY HAS NO NEED TO COMPEL THE REMOVAL OF S~ID <br />STRUCTURES; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE CITY COUNCIL <br />DECLARES THAT IT WiLL NOT ODMPEL THE REMOVAL DF SAID STRUCTURES <br />UNLESS THEY ARE DAMAGED BY FIRE DR OTHER NATURAL CAUSES TO <br />THE EXTENT OF 50~ OF THEIR FAIR MARKET VALUE AS OF THE TIME <br />SAID DAMAGE IS SUSTAINED, <br /> <br /> AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT THE OWNERS OF SAID TAX <br />PARCEL 86, TAX MAP 56, KNOWN AS 512 RIVES STREET AND THEIR <br />SUCCESSORS IN TITLE HAVE A LICENSE AND PERMISSION TO HAVE <br />SAID IMPROVEMENTS REMAIN AS PRESENTLY LOCATED FOR SO LONG AS <br />THEY STAND PROVIDED THAT SAID IMPROVEMENTS ARE NOT DAMAGED <br />BY FIRE OR OTHER NATURAL CAUSES TO THE EXTENT OF 50% OF <br />THEIR FAIR MARKET VALUE AS OF THE TIME SAID DAMAGE IS SUSTAINED. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY M.R. HALL~ THE FOLLOWING <br />RESOLUTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED BY COUNCIL: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THE CITY ENGINEER HAS ADVISED THAT PORTIONS OF <br />CERTAIN STREETS HERETOFORE DEDICATED BUT UNACCEPTED FROM MAINTENANCE <br />IN THE CITY STREET SYSTEM HAVE NOW BEEN COMPLETED ACCORDING TO <br />CITY SPECIFICIATIONS BY THE DEVELOPERS OF ADJACENT PROPERTIESi <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE C,ITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA, THAT THE FOLLOWING STREETS OR PORTIONS <br />OF STREETS ARE HEREBY ACCEPTED INTO THE CITY STREET SYSTEM FOR <br />MAINTENANCE~ <br /> <br /> 1. BERRING STREET FROM RIDGE STREET TO 5TH STREET, <br /> S.W., A DISTANCE OF 360 FEET, TEN FEET IN WIDTH. <br /> <br /> 2. FIRST STREET FROM LANKFORD AVENUE TO HARTMAN'S ~ILL <br /> ROAD, A DISTANCE OF 648 FEET, 35 FEET IN WIDTH. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR. ALBRO,, SECONDED BY DR. HALL, AN ORDINANCE <br />ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 6-9 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA, 1976, AS AMENDED, <br /> <br />TO RESTORE A PROVISION RELATING TO THE CHARGE MADE FOR GRAVE SPACES, <br />WHICH PROVISION WAS INADVERTANTLY DELETED WHEN THE SECTION WAS <br />AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 81-127 TO PROVIDE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE <br />BURIAL OF URNS IN OAKWOOD CEMETARY" WAS OFFERED AND CARRIED OVER <br />TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR. ALBRO, SECONDED BY MS. GLEASON, AN ORDINANCE <br />ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORBAIN ARTICLE IX OF CHAPTER <br />13 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA, 1976, AS <br />AMENDED, BY REPEALING ¢~3-38, BY AMENDING §§13-35, 13-36. 13-37 <br /> <br />AND 13-39, AND BY ADDING NEW SECTIONS NUMBERED 13-34.5 AND 13-38.5, <br />THE REREALED, AMENDED AND NEW SECTIONS PERTAINING TO THE CONDEMNATION <br />OF DWELLINGS UNFIT FOR HUMAN HABITATION." WAS OFFERED AND CARRIED <br />OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br /> MRS. GLEASON EXTENDED-THANKS ON BEHALF OF THE COUNCIL TO <br /> <br />THE DONOR OF THE $3,000 TO THE GIRLS' ATTENTION HOME. <br /> <br /> MR. CONOVER MADE REFERENCE TO THE RECENT DEATH OF A LOCAL <br />ALCOHOLIC AND VOICED'CONCERNS COMMON IN THE COMMUNITY ABOUT OTHER <br />HOMELESS ALCOHOLICS. MR. CONOVER INDICATED THAT REGION TEN COM- <br />MUNITY SERVICES ANTICIPATES A PROJECT WHICH WILL HOPERULLY BE PUT <br />INTO EFFECT THIS SUMMER THAT WO-LD PROVIDE A PERMANENT STRUCTURE <br />FOR THE HOMELESS ALCOHOLICS. MR. CONOVER STATED THAT A TEMPORARY <br />STRUCTURE HAS BEEN SECURED ON PANTOPS MOUNTAIN ~ND THAT FUNDS ARE <br />NEEDED FOR THE NECESSITIES~ SUCH AS RENT, UTILITIES AND SALARY FOR <br />ONE INDIVIDUAL TO SUPERVISE OPERATIONS.
