GLEASON, SECONDED BY DR. HALL, A RESOLUTION <br /> <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN THE TRANSIT SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH <br /> <br />ALBEMARLE COUNTY WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> ROGER WILEY, CITY ATTORNEY, INTRODUCED THE ORDINANCE, INDICATING <br />THAT EECHNICAL CHANGES ARE NEEDED. IN THE EXISTING ORDINANCE TO CONFORM <br />TO STATE LAW. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR. ALBRO, SECONDED BY DR. HALL, AN ORDINANCE EN- <br />TITLED '~AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 9-5 OF THE CODE OF <br />THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, ~1,976, RELATING TO EROSION AND SEDIMENT <br />CONTROL, TO CONFORM LOCAL REQUIREMENTS TO STATE LAW" w~s ~FFERED AND <br />CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br /> ROGER WILEY, STATED THAT THE ELECTORAL BOARD HAD INDICATED THE <br />HEALTH DEPARTMENT ON ROSE HILL DRIVE WOULD BE UNAVAILABLE FOR USE AS <br />THAT DISTRICT'S POLLING PLACE BECAUSE OF RENOVATION. HE ALSO STATED <br />THAT ELECTION DAY MAY POSSIBLY NO LONGER BE A STATE HOLIDAY, THEREFORE <br />THE BUILDING MAY BE OPEN FOR BUSINESS ON THAT DAY. MR. WILEY RECOMMENDED <br />CARVER RECREATION CENTER AS THE BEST ALTERNATIVE POLLING PLACE. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MRi CONOVER, SECONDED BY MRS. GLEASON, AN ORDINANCE <br />ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 8-2, AS AMENDED, <br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA, 1976, RELATING <br />TO ELECTION DISTRICTS AND POLLING PLACES" WAS OFFERED AND CARRIED <br />OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br />MR. WILEY STATED THAT IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO HAVE THIS ITEM <br />ADDRESSED BY COUNCIL. <br /> <br /> BOB FARLEY OF THE LAMBETH BASEBALL LEAGUE ADDRESSED COUNCIL, <br /> <br />ASKING FOR ASSISTANCE IN WORKING WITH THE LEAGUE TO IMPROVE THE CONDI- <br /> <br />TIONS OF AZALEA PARK FIELD, <br /> <br /> MR. BUCK SUGGESTED MR. FARLEY CONTACT GENE GERMAN, DIRECTOR OF <br /> <br />PARKS AND RECREATION SO THAT THE SITUATION MAY BE INVESTIGATED AND A <br /> <br />REPORT SUBMITTED TO COUNCIL. <br /> <br /> MR. HENDRIX INDICATED THAT ASSISTANCE IN IMPROVING THE FIELD <br /> <br />SEEMED POSSIBLE AND THAT THE COUNCIL AND STAFF WOULD HAVE TO KNOW <br /> <br />SPECIFICALLY WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE, <br /> <br />MR. CONOVER ASKED IF THE FENCING PRESENTLY AT LANE FIELD WOULD <br />BE AVAILABLE FOR USE AT AZALEA PARK. <br /> <br />MR, HENDRIX REPLIED, INDICATING THAT THE FENCING DOES NOT BELONG <br />TO THE CITY. <br />MR. CONDVER THANKED THE TRANSIT STAFF FOR AN EXCELLENT REPORT, <br /> <br />WHICH ANALYZED EACH ROUTE INDEPENDENTLY. <br /> <br /> MRS. GLEASON ASKED THE STAFF WHAT THE REASONS WERE FOR THE <br /> <br />NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AM AND PM PEAK RIDERSHIP? <br /> <br /> HELEN POORE, DIRECTOR OF TRANSIT, REPLIED, STATING THAT THE TWO <br /> <br />BASIC REASONS FOR THE DIFFERENCE WERE: 1) PEOPLE LEAVE WORK EARLY AND <br />2) DURING THE TIME OF THE SURVEY AN EMERGENCY HAPPENED DURING THE <br />PM PEAKE AND THE BUSES COULD NOT GET INTO THE UNIVERSITY AREA TO <br />PICK UP PASSENGERS. <br /> <br /> MR. CONOVER SUGGESTED THAT A SIMILAR REPORT BE DONE SIX MONTHS <br /> <br />AFTER APRIL IST. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MRS. GLEASON, SECONDED BY DR, HALL~ COUNCIL UNAINI- <br /> <br />MOUSLY AGREED TO MEET IN EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS MATTERS EXEMPTED <br /> <br /> <br />
