HENDRIX INTRODUCED THIS ITEM REFERRING TO A REPORT DISTRIBUTED <br /> <br /> TO COUNCIL FROM EUGENE GERMAN, DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION, WHICH <br /> ESTIMATES THE COSTS OF MAKING IMPROVEMENTS TO AZALEA PARKS AS $1,939.00. <br /> <br /> DR. HALL COMMENTED THAT HE FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO SUPPORT THIS PROPOSAL <br /> <br /> OF ALLOCATING THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR FENCE ~EPAIR, SINCE COUNCIL HAD BEEN <br /> DISCUSSING BUDGET CUTS IN SO MANY OTHER AREA~. DR. HALL ASKED IF THE <br /> <br /> ESTIMATE INDICATED WAS THE LOWEST RECEIVED. <br /> <br /> MR. HENDRIX REPLIED THAT IN HIS OPINION, ALTHOUGH BIDS WOULD BE TAKEN, <br /> THE FIGURES PRESENTED WERE ACCURATE. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR. CONOVER, SECONDED BY MR. ALBRO, THE APPROPRIATION OF <br /> $1,939.00 FOR AZALEA PARK WAS OFFERED AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING <br /> FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br /> b. GENE HARDING, CITY TREASURER, PRESENTED A REPORT TO COUNCIL, STATING <br /> THAT A YEAR AGO THE CITY EMBARKED ON A NEW BANKING PROGRAM OF POOLING ITS <br /> DEMAND DEPOSIT BANK ACCOUNTS WITH INCREASING ITS INVESTMENT INCOME AS ITS <br /> GOAL. ~R. HARDING STATED THAT LOCAL BANKS SUBMITTED PROPOSALS OF THEIR <br /> SERVICES AND AFTER EVALUATING ALL PROPOSALS, THE CITY STAFF RECOMMENDED <br /> <br />USING A FEE BASIS. HE NOTED THAT COUNCIL HAD SIGNED AN AGREEMENT WITH CENTRAL <br /> <br /> FIDELITY BANK FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR. MR. HARDING CONTINUED, SAYING THAT <br /> THE ONE YEAR AGREEMENT WILL EXPIRE AT THE END OF MARCH AND THAT HE RECOMMENDS <br /> SIGNING A TWO YEAR AGREEMENT AT THIS TIME TO SERVICE THE CITY'S DEMAND BANK <br /> <br />ACCOUNT. THE CENTRAL FIDELITY PROPOSAL WAS DEEMED TO BE THE BEST ONE RECEIVED. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. CONOVER, SECONDED BY MS. GLEASON, COUNCIL UNANIMOUSLY <br />AGREED TO SIGN A TWO YEAR AGREEMNT WITH CENTRAL FIDELITY BANK. <br /> <br /> THE APPROPRIATION OF $5,026.83 FOR REPAIR TO THE ROOF OF THE JOINT <br /> <br />SECURITY COMPLEX WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE MEETING OF MARCH IST, WAS ADOPTED <br />BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: AYEs: MR.
