BUCK ( SIGNED) <br /> <br /> BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM - MONDAY, MARCH 29TH <br /> <br /> COUNCIL MET IN SPECIAL SESSION ON THIS DATE WITH THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS <br />PRESENT: MR. ALBRO, MR. BUCK, MR. CONOVER, MS. GLEASON, DR. HALL. ABSENT: <br /> <br />NONE. <br /> <br /> FOLLOWING CONSIDERABLE DISCUSSIONS ON MANY OF THE PROGRAMS IN THE F/Y 83 <br />BUDGET, THE INDIVIDUAL CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS INDICATED THEIR THINKING ON <br />ADDING BACK PROGRAMS TO THE CITY MANAGER'S PROPOSED BUDGET. THE FUNDING FOR <br />ADDING THESE PROGRAMS BACK WOULD COME FROM REDUCING THE FUNDING FOR ENERGY <br />CONSERVATION UP TO $40,000, REDUCING THE TOURISM BUDGET BY $3,700 AND THE <br />EARLY PURCHASE OF VEHICLES AT A SAVINGS OF $21,300. THE PROGRAMS THAT A <br />MAJORITY OF CITY COUNCIL INDICATED THEY DESIRED TO ADD BACK TO THE BUDGET <br />WERE FULL FUNDING OF MACCA, FULL FUNDING OF REGION X, FULL FUNDING OF JABA, <br />FULL FUNDING OF THE PLANNING DISTRICT COMMISSION, $500 FUNDING OF THE WOMEN'S <br />HEALTH CENTER, ADDING BACK THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPER PROGRAM, AND FUNDING THE <br />FRAUD INVESTIGATOR POSITION. THERE WAS DISCUSSION OF MAKING THE SOCIAL <br />PLANNER A FULL-TIME POSITION, BUT NO CONSENSUS WAS REACHED. <br /> <br />ON MOTION, COUNCIL UNANIMOUSLY AGREED TO MEET IN EXECUTIVE SESSION TO <br />DISCUSS MATTERS EXEMPTED BY SECTION 2.1-344(A)(1)(PERSONNEL) AND (6)(.LEGAL) <br />OF THE VIRGINIA FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT. <br /> <br />THE MEETING WAS ADJOURNED. <br /> <br /> TAKE NOTICE <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />/ f ') <br /> <br /> A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY EVENING THE <br /> <br />31ST INST.
