RESOLUYION:
<br />ADOPTING PART OF
<br />CATS STUDY AS
<br />COMPONENT OF
<br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
<br />
<br />of Highways and Transportation that any right of way and drainage
<br />easements within the City dedicated to public use for this access road
<br />will be accepted and recorded in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit
<br />Court for the City of Charlottesville, and that such road, when completed,
<br />will be accepted for City maintenance.
<br />
<br />Mr. Hendrix explained that Council was being asked to adopt certain
<br />
<br />amendments to the study, and not the entire study.
<br />
<br />Mr. Conover noted concern about encouraging traffic on Ridge Street.
<br />
<br />Mr.~Conover moved to amend the resolution by substituting "only to assist
<br />
<br />in the neighborhood traffic," Dr. Gunter seconded, and the amendment was
<br />
<br />unanimously approved.

<br /> Mrs. Gleason moved the following resolution, as amended, Dr· Gunter
<br />
<br />seconded the motion, and the resolution was unanimously approved.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission has recommended certain amend-
<br />ments to be made to the City's comprehensive plan as a result of the
<br />completion of the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation's
<br />Charlottesville Area Transportation Study; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, these amendments were the subject of a joint public hearing
<br />before the City Planning Commission and this Council on July 13, 1982; now,
<br />therefore, be it
<br />
<br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that
<br />the Comprehensive Plan of the City, as adopted November 5, 1979, is hereby
<br />amended as. follows:

<br />I· Page 102, Recommendation 2, Transit System, add the following:

<br />Transit Innovations: Consider improvements to the transit
<br />system which might include, but not be limited to; use o±-
<br />taxis, ridesharing, priority treatment, route deviation,
<br />use of railroad right-of-way, personal rapid transit, expanded
<br />demand-responsive services, shared-ride taxi.s, light rail
<br />
<br />transit·

<br />II. Page 102, Recommendation 5, Streets, make the following change:

<br />Collector Streets Consider collector street improvements
<br />between Jefferson Park Avenue and Fifth Street, 9th and
<br />10th Street link, the 14th Street extension to Madison
<br />Avenue, East High Street from 9th Street to 250 Bypass, Ivy
<br />

<br />Street within the existmng improved area from Cherry Avenue
<br />to West Main Street only to assist the neighborhood traffic,
