A petition to rezone from R-S to M-1 the property located at <br /> 609 Brown Street and a portion of the City Yard immediately <br /> west of that property on Brown Street. <br /> <br /> 2. Buck (signed) <br /> Clerk Mayor <br /> <br /> COUNCIL CHAMBER Tuesday, January 11, 1983 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members <br /> present: Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall. Absent: Dr. Gunter. <br /> <br /> Council and the Planning Commission discussed the rezoning of property <br /> located at 609 Brown Street and conducted a public hearing to solicit comments <br /> from the public concerning housing strategy for Charlottesville. <br /> <br /> Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session to discuss matters <br /> exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(6) Legal of the Virginia Freedom of Information <br /> <br /> COUNCIL CHAMBER Tuesday, January 18, 1983 <br /> <br />Council met in regular session on this date with the following members <br />present: Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Dr. Gunter. Absent: Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Gunter, seconded by Mrs. Conover, the minutes of <br />November 15th were approved .as submitted. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Conover, seconded by Dr. Gunter, the minutes of December <br /> 20th were approved as submitted. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Conover, seconded by Dr. Gunter, the minutes of January <br /> 3rd were approved as submitted. <br /> <br /> There were no matters by the public at this time. <br /> <br /> Cole Hendrix, City Manager, stated that Council had previously discussed <br />how to approach the Community Development Block Grant Program this year as <br />opposed to past years and decided to hold a public hearing to develop a process <br />that would be used by the City for the coming year. He stated that the City <br />will receive slightly in excess of $700,000 for the program and that a plan <br />needs to be submitted to HUD by late spring for approval. <br /> <br /> Satyendra Huja, Director of Community Development, outlined some of the <br />processes that have been used and some of the elements of the planning process <br />the staff has discussed. <br /> <br /> Mayor Buck opened the public hearing. <br /> <br /> Cynthia Stratton of 1913B Cedar Court Road thanked the City staff for <br />their time devoted to developing the ordinance material that has been submitted <br />to Council. Mrs. Stratton recommended that a City-wide task force be formed <br />consisting of fifteen people, eight representing low and moderate income <br />families. She stated that the task force should be responsible for designating <br />program perimeters and making recommendations to Council in terms of projects <br />and neighborhoods to be selected.
