<br />(16) Any other use or purpose which will create or is likely to create
<br />conditions of smoke, fumes, noise, odors, or dust detrimental to the health,
<br />safety, or general welfare of the community.
<br />This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from the date of its
<br />passage and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
<br />repealed.

<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 319 OF THE
<br />CITY CODE OF 1932, ENTITLED IFILLING STATION - PERMIT TO OPERATE"
<br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that
<br />Section 319 of the City Code of 1932, be, and the same is hereby amended and re-
<br />enacted to read as follows:
<br />SEC. 319 (C) FILLING STATION - PERMIT TO OPERATE.
<br />No person, firm, or corporation shall operate a gasoline or oil
<br />filling station for public service without a special permit from the
<br />Council, which permit shall be revoked and become void unless the same
<br />is used by the person to whom the same is granted within 90 (ninety)
<br />days from the date such permit is issued. No permit shall be grunted
<br />until after the applicant has posted on the premises in question for at
<br />least 30 days, a sign, furnished by the City Manager, which shall show
<br />that applic&tion for a permit has been made. The applicant shall also
<br />submit to the City ManEger ground plans showing the proposed station
<br />and driveways at the same time notice is posted.
<br />Any violation of this Section shall be punished by a fine of not
<br />less than x',10.00 nor more than $25.00, and every day such violation
<br />continues shall constitute a separate offense.
<br />All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed,
<br />and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from the date of its passage.

<br />AN ORDINANCE A1,1ENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 163 A OF THE CITY CODE OF 1932
<br />ENTITLED "ELECTRIC SIGNS".
<br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 163 A
<br />of the City Code of 1932, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
<br />SEC. 163 B. ELECTRIC SIGNS.
<br />(1) Any person, firm, or corporation desiring to erect and maintain an electric
<br />sign over any sidewal_-,, street, avenue, or alley, shall make application for the
<br />privilege so to do, to the City Manager, on printed forms to be furnished therefor.
<br />(2) Upon applicantts compliance with the follov:ing requirements, the City Manager
<br />shall issue to the applicant a construction permit, limited to a period of
<br />construction only. The construction and installation of all electric signs shall
<br />conform to the rules and requirements of the National Board of Fire Underwriters
<br />for the installation of wiring and apparatus for electric light, heat and power
<br />and for the construction and installation of electric signs and displays and in
<br />addition to such further requirements as are incorporated in this section. The
<br />City Manager shall, upon being notified of the completion of such sign, cause an
<br />inspection of same to be made, and if such sign has been constructed in accordance
<br />with the provisions of this ordinance and is approved by the City Electrician
<br />he shall then issue an electrical permit without cost for the operation and
<br />maintenance of such signs,until revoked, and the use of electric current previous
<br />to the issuance of an electrical permit is prohibited. No alteration shall be
<br />made on any sign erected or maintained under authority of this section unless all
<br />the provisions of this section are fully complied with and a permit issued for
<br />alteration.
