261 <br />AN ORDINANCE ADDING A NEW SECTION TO THE CITY CODE <br />OF 1932 DESIGNATED "SECTION 490 (a) PROHIBITING THE SALE <br />OF WINE IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE OId SUNDAY". <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that a new section <br />be added to the City Code of 1932, which shall be numbered and entitled and which shall <br />read as follows: <br />SECTION 490(a) PROHIBITING THE SALE OF ZINE IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />ON SUNDAY. <br />It shall be unlawful to sell within the limits of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville any wine between the hours of twelve o'clock post meridian of each <br />Saturday and six o'clock ante meridian of each Monday, and it shall be unlawful <br />for any person holding a license to sell wine in the City, to permit the consump- <br />tion of wine upon the premises mentioned in said license between said hours. <br />Any violation of the provisions of this section shall be punished by a fine of <br />not less than $50.00 and not more than $500.00 or by imprisonment in the City <br />jail for not less than 30 days and not more than six months, or by both such <br />fine and imprisonment. <br />This ordinance shall be in force for a period of one year, beginning December 1, <br />1940, and ending November 30, 1941. <br />er <br />Adopted by the Council November 4, 1940 <br />Ayes: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, TSr. Huff, <br />Mr. Nash, and Mr. Peyton. <br />Nnpq _ Nnna _ <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTIiJG SECTION 281 OF <br />THE CITY CODE OF 1932 ENTITLED "MINORS FREQUENTING BILLIARD <br />SALOONS AND POOL ROOMS, ETC". <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 281 <br />of the City Code of 1932 be and the same is hereby amended and reenacted so as to read <br />as follows: <br />SEC. 281 MINORS FREQUENTING BILLIARD SALOONS, POOL ROOMS, ETC. <br />No minor under 18 years of age shall be employed in, play in, or loaf <br />or loiter in or frequent any billiard saloon or pool room, unless attended <br />by parent, under penalty of not less than $2.00 nor more than $25.00 for <br />each offense. <br />No minor under sixteen years of age shall be employed in any bowling <br />alley or shooting gallery, under a penalty of not less than $2.00 nor more <br />than "P25.00 for each offense. <br />If any owner or keeper of any such room as set forth above shall allow <br />any minor to violate the provisions of this section, he shall be deemed to be <br />equally guilty and fined a like sum. <br />This ordinance shall be in force from its passage. <br />Adopted by the Council November 18, 1940 <br />Ayes: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, Mr. Huff, <br />Mr. Nash, and Mr. Peyton. <br />(/ Noes: None. <br />Y �,o c� O . ,, 1 ✓ V <br />-�— Clerk President <br />AN ORDINANCE ADDING T140 NEW SECTIONS TO THE CITY CODE OF 1932 <br />NUMBERED 489 (76) and 489 (77) TO PROVIDE FOR THE REGISTRATION OF BICYCLES <br />OPERATED WITHIN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, AND THE ISSUANCE OF REGISTRA== <br />TION PLATES, TO REGULATE THE SALE OR TRANSFER OF BICYCLES, TO REQUIRE <br />REPORTS FROM PURCHASERS OF SECOND HAND BICYCLES, OR PARTS THEREOF TO PROVIDE <br />AGAINST THE RE1.20VAL0 DESTRUCTION, ETC.
