Communication re: <br />Citizens' Task Force <br />on AbUsed Women <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Appropriation - <br />$2,400 - RSVP <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Raffle Permit - Lambeth <br />League Babe Ruth Base- <br />ball <br /> <br /> exceeded then the City would be so informed in advance to get <br /> approval before proceeding. Re stated they also indicated that if <br /> less time is required than estimated the City would receive the <br /> benefit of the lesser amount of time. He also stated that if the <br /> auditing firm as.sists the Finance in preparing the annual report <br /> the fee will be between $750 and $1000 in addition to the auditing <br /> fee. <br /> <br /> Mrs. O'Brien stated that she and Mr. Gatewood would be meeting <br />with the auditors throughout the course of the audit and if there <br />appear to be problems which should be brought back to Council or <br />if the Council has things to be discussed with the auditors they <br />would be glad to take care of these matters. On motion by Mr. <br />Gatewood, seconded by Mrs. O'.Brien the Mayor was authorized to sign <br />a contract with Hantzmon, Wiebel and Company for the Annual Audit. <br /> <br /> Miss Kathy Ralston representing the Citizen's Task Force on <br />Abused Women reported that they had obtained a house from the City <br />which was opened in February 1979 and is being staffed by volunteers. <br />She stated they are now waiting for LEAA funding and expecting to <br />hear at anytime and they will also apply to foundations around the <br />state and the country for funding. She stated that Since February <br />the house has served ten women and seventeen children. <br /> <br /> Miss Dianna Gray also addressed the Council and stated that <br />representatives of the task force had approached the Council last <br />spring and requested $300 to help provide funding for a study in <br />conjunction with the Police Department on domestic violence in the <br />City. She stated that the report has.been completed and it was <br />done entirely with volunteer and donated resources and she returned <br />the $300 with thanks to the Council for providing the money. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Albro the following <br />resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia that the additional sum of $2,400 is hereby appropriated <br />from the unappropriated balance of the Grants Fund to expenditure <br />account 11-51070 for expenses of volunteers in the Retired Senior <br />~otunteer Program; provided, that such appropriation is conditioned <br />upon the receipt by the Grants Fund of additional revenues in <br />like amount from ACTION Grant No. 440-3547/5. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. O,Brien, seconded by Mr. Albro the following <br />resolutiQn was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lambeth League Babe Ruth Baseball has duly <br />applied for a perid to conduct raffles in compliance with §17-19 <br />of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Lambeth League <br />Babe Ruth Baseball meets the qualifications as outlined in §17-19; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to the Lambeth League <br />Babe Ruth Baseball to conduct raffles in accordance with all the <br />provisions of ~17-19 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville for <br />~ period beginSing May 7, 1979 and ending December 31, 1979; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council be <br />directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Director, Lambeth <br />League Babe Ruth Baseball. <br /> <br />4¸3 <br /> <br /> <br />
