2 Mr. Signer read a statement outlini ng his goals for his tenure as Mayor , including a focus on respect and results. Mr. Bellamy thanked Council and the community for their support. He asked the community to give Council an opportunity to show that this is a new day for Charlottesville. AW ARDS/RECOGNITIONS & ANNOUNCEMENTS Ms. Szakos announced City offices will be closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 18. Full service CAT, trash and recycling will operate. Council will meet Tuesday, January 19. Also, the City -wide Martin Luther King celebration is on January 24 at Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church. Mr. Bellamy announced the Martin Luther King event on Monday, January 18 at 1:00 p.m. at the Carver Recreation Center. This is a free family event. Also "Realizing the Dre am" will take place Sunday, January 17 at 5:00 p.m. Ms. Galvin announced Christmas tree curb -side pick -up will take place starting January 11. Free mulch from the collected trees will be available at Darden Towe Park starting February 1. On motion by M s.
