Widening of Free Bridge across the Rivanna River on <br /> Route 250 East. <br /> <br />RESOLUTIONS: <br />APPOINTING <br />VIEWERS TO <br />CONSIDER <br />CLOSING A <br />PORTION OF AN <br /> <br /> The resolutions appointing viewers to consider closing a portion of an <br />alley south of Edgehill Road and a portion of Johnny Cake Lane between Blue <br />Ridge Road (East) and Blue Ridge Road (West) was moved by Mr. Barnes, seconded <br /> <br />ALLEY SOUTH OF by Mrs. Gleason, and unanimously approved by Council. <br />BD~EHILL.RD. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition requesting vacation <br />of the fifteen-foot Wide alley along the rear of lots 7, 8 and 9 of <br />"Colonial Heights" Block D, that portion being 23.2 feet in length and <br />contiguous with the boundary of Lot'6B at the end of the alley furthest <br />away from Edgehill Road; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to Council that. the notice required by Section <br />15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, has been duly <br />advertised; <br /> <br />and <br />A PORTION OF <br />JOHNNY CAKE <br />LANE BETWEEN <br />BLUE RIDGE <br />RD. Winn, Jr. report ~n writing to Council what inconvenience, <br />if any, would result from such vacation. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition requesting vacation <br />of the portion of Johnny Cake Lane between Blue Ridge Road. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck', <br />Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall. Noes: None. Absent: Dr. Gunter. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: <br />CLOSING A <br />PORTION OF <br />CLYDE ST. <br />BETWEEN <br />ELLIOTT & <br />SYCAMORE <br /> <br /> Mr. Wiley stated that the petitioners had originally requested the <br />closing of the entire portion of Clyde Street, but staff had recommended <br />only closing a portion because adjoining prppe.rty owners did not want the <br />alley blocked off. <br /> <br /> Mr. Berkley FalWell of Elliott Avenue stated that he would prefer to <br />see the alley and Clyde Street.remain open. <br /> <br /> Mr. Len Hartman of Monticello Road also stated he would prefer the <br />street to remain unchanged. <br /> <br /> Rev. Rudy Ramsey, pastor of the Charlottesville Christian Fellowship <br />Church, stated that the advantage of closing the street would be to allow <br /> <br />the 'church to own the parking lot. <br />no desire to alter~the alley. <br /> <br />Rev. Ramsey added that the church had <br /> <br /> Dr. Hall made a motion to approve the closing of Clyde Street and Mrs. <br />Gleason seconded the motion. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wiley stated that the church would not be legally bound to allow <br />through passage in the 'future. <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND DISCONTINUING <br />A PORTION OF CLYDE STREET" was denied by t~e following vote. Ayes: Dr. Hall. <br />Noes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason. Absent- Dr. Gunter. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: Mr. Huja presented the Planning CommissiOn's reasons for recommending <br />REZONING PRO- <br />'PERTY ON approval of the rezoning as follows: 1) It is in harmony with the Land Use <br />NORTH SIDE OF <br />MONTICELLO AVE. Plan of the.Comprehensive Plan. 2) It would not have a significant adverse <br />BETWEEN <br />GLBASON ST. & impact on the surrounding properties. 3) It would permit the zoning district <br />RIDGE ST. FROM <br />B-2 TO B-3 boundary (M-l) to follow the property boundary. <br /> <br /> <br />
