<br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the minutes
<br />of January 22 were unanimously approved as presented.
<br />
<br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the minutes
<br />of January 28 were unanimously approved as presented..
<br />
<br /> There were no matters, by the public.

<br />APPOINTMENTS:
<br />
<br />BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
<br />
<br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, Roger Sherman was unanimously appointed
<br />
<br /> to fill an unexpired term on the MCGuffey Arts Center Board. This
<br /> term shall expire on August 31, 1.986.
<br />
<br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, Matthew Gaffney was unanimously appointed
<br />
<br />to serve an unexpired term on the Thomas Jefferson Visitors Bureau
<br />Board. This term shail expire on February 28, 1986.
<br />
<br />On motion by Mrs. Gleason, Lloyd Snook was unanimously'~appointed
<br />
<br />to serve as the Planning Commission representative on the Historic
<br />
<br />Landmarks Commission. This term shall expire on August 31, 1986.
<br />
<br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, the following persons were appointed to
<br />serve on the Race Relations and Education Task Force: Mr. Stephen D.
<br />
<br />Campbell (Social Development Commission), Rev. Alvin Edwards (Social
<br />Development Commission), Mr. Boyd Tinsley (Social Development Commission),
<br />Dr. Clifford Bennett (School Board), Mr. John Pezzoli (School Board),
<br />
<br />Dr. Virginia Schatz (School Board), Mr. Robert Templin (Piedmont
<br />
<br />Virginia Community College), Mrs. Sylvia Elder (Counselor, Charlottesville
<br />High School), Mrs. Betty Pittman (Teacher, Charlottesville High School),
<br />Miss Dawn Jackson (Student, Charlottesville High School), Mr. Chris
<br />
<br />Weber (Student, Charlottesville High School), Mrs. Elizabeth Gleason

<br />APPROPRIATION:

<br /> The $1,300 appropriation for an attitude study for the Rape
<br />Prevention Task Force'which was offered at the January 22nd meeting,
<br />was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs.
<br />Gleason, Dr. Hall. Noes: None. Absent: Dr. Gunter.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Task Force on the Prevention
<br />of Sexual Assault is pursuing the charge of this body diligently; and
<br />
<br />APPROPRIATION:
<br />
<br />1984 YEAR-END
<br />APPROPRIATIONS
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, it appears from the Interim Report of the Task Force that
<br />its final report and recommendations may prove to be valuable crime
<br />prevention tools for our community; now, therefore,
<br />
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville,
<br />Virginia that the sum of $1,300 is hereby appropriated from the
<br />general fund balance to expenditure account 01-42250, to be used
<br />to pay those expenses of the Task Force which cannot be eliminated
<br />through the use of volunteers and the acquisition of in-kind
<br />services. Such appropriation is subject to the appropriation of a
<br />like amount by the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors.
<br />
<br />Mr. Hendrix explained that the Year-End Appropriations would
<br />
<br />finalize the accounting adjustments made by the auditors for the
<br />
<br />fiscal year ending gmne 30, 1984.
<br />
<br /> Council requested that they be provided with a list of equipment
<br />
<br />requested by Pargs and Recreation, and that they be given a listing
<br />showing what has been spent to date of the amounts shown as unspent in
<br />
<br />the Year-End Appropriations.
