The special permit
application is requested by the Alumni Ass~ociation of the University
of Virginia for expansion of the existing Alumni Hall facility.
The Planning Commission recommends approval of the request because
it finds the special permit to be in harmonywith the Comprehensive
Plan, that it would not have a significant adverse impact on the
surrounding area, and that it would be in harmony with the intent
and purpose of the R-1 residential district. Mr. Huja indicated
that the Commission had recommended a number of conditions to be
imposed on the special permit. He enumerated these conditions
which are set forth in the resolution granting the permit.

Mr. Buck inquired whether an additional condition could be
imposed to alter the angle of the access drive-way from the parking
lot of Alumni Hall onto Lewis Mountain Road, to discourage vehicles
from making right turns from the parking lot to Lewis Mountain Road.

Mr. Huja replied that this could be done but would require

some medesign of the site plan.

The Mayor inquired about the status of discussions between

the Alumni Association and the Lewis Mountain Road Neighborhood
Association regarding the disposition of the Alumni
