Council <br />on Aging <br /> <br />Appointment re: <br />Architectural <br />Review Board <br /> <br />Appointment re: <br />Jefferson Area Board <br />for Aging <br /> <br />Appointment re: <br />Citizens Advisory <br />Committee--HUD <br />Innovative Grant <br /> <br />Appointments re: <br />SchOol Board <br /> <br /> County meeting to represent the City's interests; she hopes <br /> this.will happen in the future and wants the County to be <br /> continously aware of the Council's concern about .the reservoir. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gatewood, Mr. Earl Burton was nominated <br /> <br /> and unanimously appointed to the Charlottesville-Albemarle <br /> Regional Jail Board. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Buck, Ms. ~ary Frances Walton and Mr. <br /> <br /> Booker Reaves were nominated and unanimously appointed to the <br /> Historic Landmarks Commission. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Albro, Mr. Charles Barbour was nominated <br /> and unanimously =e,appointed to the Monticello Area Community <br /> Action Agency Board <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. O'Brien, Ms. Elizabeth Woodard was <br /> nominated and unanimously re-appointed to the Piedmont Virginia <br /> Community College Board. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gatewood, Ms. Cathy Boskey, Dr. James <br /> <br /> Cole and Ms. Virginia Purvis-Smith were nominated and unanimously <br /> re-appointed to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program Advisory <br /> Board. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. O'Brien, Mr. Leland Baker was nominated <br /> <br /> and unanimously appointed to the Thomas Jefferson Planning District <br /> Commission Council on Aging. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Albro, Ms. Elizabeth Booker was nominated <br />and unanimously appointed to the Architectural Review Board. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Albro, Mr. Ewing Simpson was nominated <br /> <br />and unanimously appointed to the Jefferson Area Board for <br /> <br />Aging. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr, Buck, Mrs. Marion Clark was nominated <br /> <br />and unanimously appointed to the Citizens Advisory Committee <br />for the HUD Innovative Grant in the 10th & Page Streets <br />neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Mrs, O'Brien made a motion to defer the School Board <br />appointments to July, stating that Mr. Gatewood's previous <br />support for this action had persuaded her that the new <br />Council members should have the opPortunity to appoint the <br />School Board members that they would be working with. Mr. <br />Buck seconded this motion. Mr. Gatewood stated that though <br />he considered this to probably be the best way to handle <br />School Board appointments, he would nevertheless wish to <br />exercise his prerogative to choose the School Board members <br />that he believes would best serve the City and the school <br />children. The motion was defeated by the following vote. <br />Ayes: Mrs. O'Brien, Mr. Buck. Noes: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, <br /> <br />Mr. Gatewood. Nominations for the two School Board appointments <br />then followed: Mm~ Joyce Carter by Mr. Gatewood, Mr. James <br />Treakle by Mr, Albro, Ms. Alicia Lugo by Mr. Buck, and Mr. <br />David Sheffield by Mrs. O'Brien.
