<br />by Council. Ms. Gleason suggested that the City staff look into
<br />the improvement of signs in the downtown area to enable visitors
<br />to better ascertain the location of themall and to reduce confusion
<br />as drivers circulate through the downtown section. Mr. Hendrix
<br />
<br />agreed to investigate this matter,
<br /> Mr. Robert Sheets, Director of Finance, presented Council with
<br />the Utility Tax Study and briefly summarizedcthe contents. A copy
<br />of the study is on file with the minutes of this Co~uncil meeting.
<br />Council accepted the study and deCided to keep it for the next round
<br />of worksessions on tha budget,
<br /> The appropriation of $4,465 for the Ivy Landfill which was
<br />offered at the meeting of Council on September 2 was adOpted by the
<br />fOllowing vote. Ayes: Mr. Albro, Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Ms. Gleason,

<br /> The appropriation of $30,000 for the School Board which~was
<br />offered at the meeting of Council on September 9 was adopted by the
<br />following vote. Ayes: Mr. Albro, Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Ms. Gleason,
<br />
<br />Dr. Hall. Noes: None.
<br />
<br />On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Dr. Hall, the following
<br />appropriation was offered and carried over to the next meeting for
<br />
<br />consideration:

<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville,
<br />Virginia, that the sum of $5,000 is hereby appropriated in the
<br />grants fund to expenditureaccount 11,12200 for the operation of
<br />family group homes as a part of the. Community Attention Home program
<br />for the year beginning October 1, 1980; provided that such
<br />appropriation shall be offset by revenue in a like amount from
<br />the Division-of JUstice and Crime Prevention Grant No. 80-A5350J.

<br />On motion by Mr.~Albro, seconded by Ms. Gleason, the following
<br />
<br />appropriation was offered and carried over to the next meeting
<br />
<br />for consideration:

<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville,
<br />Virginia, that the sum of $42,259.00 is hereby appropriated to
<br />expenditure account 11-12050-in the grants fund to be used in
<br />conjunction with $3,000 in City funds previously appropriated to
<br />such account, for the operation of'the Office on Youth; provided
<br />that such appropriation shall be offset by revenues received in the
<br />grants fund in the amount of $6,037.00 from the County of Albemarle
<br />and $36,222.00 from the Virginia Division of JuStice and Crime
<br />Prevention.

<br />appropriation was offered and carried over to the next meeting for
<br />
<br />consideration:

<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville,
<br />Virginia, that the additional sum~of $2,083.50 is hereby appropriated
<br />to expenditure account 11,I2190. in the grants fund tO be used in
<br />conjunction with funds previously appropriated to such account for
<br />services providedby Outreach Counseling, Inc.; provided that such
<br />appropriation shall be offset by the .receipt of revenues in the
<br />grants fund of $694~50 from the County of Albemarle and $1,389.00
<br />from the Virginia DiviSion of Justice and Crime Prevention.

<br />APRIL 14, 1980, RELATING TO FARES CHARGED BY THE CITY. TRANSIT SYSTEM"

<br />September 2 was adopted by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Albro,
<br />Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Ms. Gleason, Dr. Hall. Noes: None.
