Ayes: <br /> <br /> Mr. Albro, Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Ms. Gleason, Dr. Hall. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> A ~ropos~d ordinance vacating a portion of Albemarle Street <br /> <br /> was. deferred to the-next meeting. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Dr. Hall, an ordinance <br /> entitled "AM~.ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND DISCONTINUING THAT <br /> UNOPENED-PORTION OF RIVER ROAD" was offered and carried over to <br /> the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> Mr. Satyendra Huja, director of Planning and Community <br /> Development;-presented an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br /> AND REENACTING THE DISTRICT MAP INCORPORATED IN SECTION 31-4 OF THE <br /> ZONING 0RDINANCEOF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, L976, <br /> BY REZONING OF A PARCEL OF LAND LOCATED ON LOCUST AVENUE IN THE <br /> CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE." This is the result of an application to <br /> rezone from R~2 to B-1 the property at 528 Locust Avenue, whiCh <br /> the Planning Commission has recommended that Council deny. On <br /> motion'by Mr~ Albra, seconded by MS. Gleason, Council unanimously <br /> agreed to table the ordinance pending some action to nearby <br /> property which is being considered for use by the Martha Jefferson <br /> Hospital as a parking lot but is now residential. On motion by <br /> Mr. Conover, seconded by Mr. Albro, Council unanimously approved <br /> the following resolution: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS it has come to-the at~tention ~of this Council that <br /> theMartha.J-efferson Hospital and r~presentatives of its surrounding <br /> neighborhood~ave~ been engaged in' negotiations to save certain <br /> houses owned by..the hospital in the 500~block of Locust Avenue for <br /> residential use with hospital parking areas being located at the <br /> rear of such houses; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS[this Council believes.that this effort, if successful, <br />will be of-great valuein preserving the residential character of <br />Locust Avenue; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED by the Council of 'the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, <br />that we.'exte~d to the Board of the Martha Jefferson HosPital and to' <br />the representatives-of the Locust AvenUe neighborhood engaged in <br />such efforts our support for the preservation of the residential <br />character of~the 500 block of Locust Avenue and our gratitude for <br />their efforts to secure, a mutually satisfactory solution to a <br />community problem. <br /> <br /> On motion hy Mr. Albro, seconded by Mr. Conover, an ordinance <br />entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 31-3, AS <br />AMENDED~ OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, L976, RELATING <br />TO THE DEFINITION OF ?.LOT.'~'FOR PURpOSEs OF THE CITY ZONING ORDINANCE" <br />was~offer'ed and carried ~over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> On motion hy Mr~ Albro, seconded by Dr. Hall, an ordinance <br />entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 31-131 AND <br /> <br />REPEAL~ SECTION 31-134 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />RELATING 'TO THE MEMBERSHIP.OF THE ~OARD OF ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW" was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> <br />
