Hieronymus and Dr. <br /> <br /> Joy Spaiding were appointed to the Jefferson Area Board for <br /> <br /> Aging by unanimous vote, <br /> <br /> On nomination by Ms. Gleason, Ms. Anna Bell Hopkins was <br /> re-apPointed and Mrs. Elizabeth Beard and Mrs. Ina Omohundro were <br /> appointed to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program Advisory <br /> Board~by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On nomination by Dr. Hall, Mr. Thomas Vandever and Ms. <br /> Margaret Murray were appointed to the Citizens Committee to Study <br /> Council Changes by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On nomination by Mr. Conover, Mr. Stan Epstein was appointed <br /> to the Thomas Jefferson gisitorg Bureau by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On nomination by Mr. Albro, Mr. John Pezzoli was appointed <br /> <br /> to the International Year of Disabled Persons by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Police chief J. deKoven Bowen reported to Council as promised <br /> that the ordinance regulating dealers in precious metals, which <br /> was passed by Council about six months ago~ had had a very favorable <br /> effect on the department's ability to handle crimes involving <br /> precious metals. Chief Bowen reported that 28 cases had been <br /> successfully investigated since the ordinance's enactment, <br /> resulting in an arrest and recovery of goods in each case. He <br /> stated that there would be some minor changes to the ordinance <br /> proposed soon to bring it into compliance with a recent state law <br /> regulating dealers in precious metals. Mayor Buck thanked Chief <br /> Bowen for his report. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cole Hendrix, City Manager, presented to Council a list <br /> <br /> of recreation fees that had been adopted during the recent budget <br /> sessions. He asked for several changes to the fees to make some <br /> more reasonable. On motion by Ms. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Conover, <br /> C~ouncit.~towered .the indoor swimming fee for youth under 15 years <br /> from 75¢ per swim to 50¢ per swim by the following vote: Ayes: <br /> Mr. Albro, Mr. Conover, Ms. Gleason, Dr. Hall. No:~ Mr. Buck. <br /> Council declined to change the volleyball team fees as requested. <br /> By common consent, Council agreed to change the golf course <br /> tournament and league play fees to $2.50 for residents and $3.00 <br /> for non-residents for nine holes and $5.00 foe residents and $6.00 <br /> for non-residents for eighteen holes. <br /> <br /> <br />
