'thi's~"Council has approved the Regional <br />Law Enforcement Assistance plan developed by the Thomas <br />Jefferson Planning District Commission, which provides for the <br />execution of such agreements among the member jurisdictions <br />in the planning district; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears that it would be beneficial for <br />the police force of the University of Virginia to participate <br />in this plan; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />that the Council endorses the amendment to ~15.1-131 of the <br />Code of Virginia, previously requested by the Thomas Jefferson <br />Planning District Commission, to permit the Board of Visitors <br />of state educational institutions to enter into reciprocal <br />agreements for mutual aid by and to their police forces; and <br />be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Council be directed to <br />send a copy of this resolution to each member of the General <br />Assembly representing jurisdictions within the planning district. <br /> <br /> Ms. Lindsey Notting representing the Second Street Gallery <br />addressed the Council and reviewed the operations and budget <br />of the Gallery for calendar year 1975. She requested~CoUncil <br />to consider matching donations received until June, 1976 up <br />to a maximum of $3,000. This matter was referred to the City <br />Manager for recommendation. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $1,710 for Health Department <br />Equipment which was offered at the meeting of the Council on <br />December 8, 1975, was adopted by the following recorded vone. <br />Ayes: Mr. F~ife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs. Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. <br />Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Barbour. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $9,000 for Mall Planting <br />which was offered at the meeting of the Council on December <br />8, 1975, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: <br />Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs. Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. <br /> <br />Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Barbour. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $2,760 for Library Bookmobile <br />Operation which was-offered at the meeting of the Council <br />on December 8, 1975, was adopted by the following recorded <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mfs.Rinehart and Mr. <br /> <br />Van Yahres. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Barbour. <br /> <br />The resolution appropriating $6,000 for tree removal and <br /> <br />trimming, which was offered at the meeting of the Council on <br />December 8, 1975, was adopted by the following recorded vote. <br />Ayes: Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs. Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. <br /> <br />Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Barbour. <br /> <br /> The installation of a street light on Montebello Circle, <br />which was deferred from the meeting of November 17, 1975, was <br />again discussed. Mr. Lee McGlothlin, addressed the C~Uncil in <br /> <br />opposition to the light. A communication was presented from <br /> <br />Dr. W. D. Buxton also in-'opposition to the installation of this <br />light. A motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mrs. Rinehart that the <br />light not be installed was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br />5¸7 <br /> <br /> <br />
