Resolution re: <br />Jefferson Area United <br />Transportation, Inc. <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$2,000'- Second <br />Street Gallery <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$100,000 - Health <br />Department Building <br />Addition <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$14,200 - Annual <br />Audit <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$4,002.24 - Joint <br />Security Complex <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Raffle Permit - Museum <br />of Commerce <br /> <br />Council in support of the request. After a lenghty <br />discussion, on motion by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mr. <br />Van Yahres the following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> WHEREAS, public transportation for persons who <br />live in rural areas is virtually nonexistent, and mobility <br />depends on ability to own and drive an automobile; and <br /> WHEREAS, for those persons who are unable, because <br />of age, physical disability, or lack of resources, to <br />use an automobile, this lack of transportation seriously <br />reduces their choice of activities of daily living, <br />and is a barrier 'to active participation in jobs, <br />medical and social services and other aspects of <br />community life; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Jefferson Area United Transportation, <br /> Inc. (JAUNT,Inc.) is engated in providing transportation <br /> services to these transportation disadvantaged persons <br /> in a manner designed to utilize existing community <br /> resources and reduce deplication; <br /> THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council <br /> of Charlottesville endorses the request made by <br /> JAUNT, Inc. to the Federal Highway Administration for <br /> funds under Section 147, Federal-Aid Highway Act (1973 <br /> as amended) to expand and enlarge its capacity to include <br /> service to the citizens of the locality. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $2,000 for the Second <br /> Street Gallery, which was offered at the meeting of the <br /> Council on April 5, 1976, was adopted by the following <br /> recorded vote.~ Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Gilliam and Mr. <br /> Van Yahres. Noes: Mr. Fife and Mrs. Rinehart. <br /> <br /> The resolution'appropriating $100,000 for the Health <br /> Department Building Addition, which was offered at the <br /> meeting of the Council on April 5, 1976, was adopted by <br /> the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. <br /> Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs. Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. <br /> <br />Noes: None. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $14,200 for the Annual <br />Audit, which was offered at the meeting of the Council <br />on April 5, 1976, was adopted by the following recorded <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs. <br /> <br />Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $4,002.24 for expenses <br /> <br />at the Joint Security Complex, which was offered at the <br />meeting of the Council on April 5, 1976, was adopted by <br />the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, <br />Mr. Gilliam, Mfs.Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> On motiOn by ~Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mr. Fife <br /> <br />the following resolution, was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Museum of Commerce has duly applied <br />f6~' a permit to conduct raffles in compliance with §19-36 <br />of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1965, as <br />amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Museum <br />of Commerce meets the qualifications as outlined in <br />in §19-36; <br /> <br /> <br />
