Request re: Appropriation - <br />$12,500 - Bicentennial <br />Information Center <br /> <br />Request re: Transfer <br />of Funds - $3700 from <br />Research and Info. to <br />Bicentennial Info. Center <br /> <br />Acceptance of Bids: <br />Tonsler Park <br /> <br />Request re: Placement <br />of Plaques at City owned <br />Property <br /> <br />Resolution re: Raffle <br />permit for the Virginia <br />Fraternal Congress <br /> <br /> The City Manager advised the Council that under the <br />contract with the State we will be provided with $12,500 <br />for the remainder of this fiscal year to operate the <br />Bicentennial Information Center and stated that this amount <br />needs to be appropriated so that it can be spent. On motion <br />by Mr~ Van Yahres, seconded by Mr, Fife the following <br />resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting <br />for consideration, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville that $12,500 be and the same is hereby <br />appropriated from the General Fund for operation of the <br />Bicentennial Information Center. <br /> <br />Mr, Hendrix also stated that $3700 needs to be reallocated <br />from the Research and Information Budget to pay expenses <br />not reimbursed by the state for operation of the <br />Bicentennial Information Center. On motion by Mr. Gilliam, <br />seconded by Mr. Van Yahres, $3700 was transferred from <br />the Research and Information Budget to Bicentennial <br />Information Center. <br /> <br /> The City Manager presented construction bids on <br /> Tonsler Park Improvements and stated that Deerfield <br /> Enterprises, Inc. was the lowest bid at $73,982. He <br /> stated that the City has appropriated $86,009 for <br /> this project which would include purchase of playground <br /> equipment and architects fees and recommended that the <br /> bid from Deerfield Enterprises be accepted. On motion <br /> by Mrs, Rinehart, seconded by Mr. Gilliam the foregoing <br /> recommendation was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A motion by Mrs. Rinehart, seconded by Mr. Van <br /> <br /> Yahres that the City erect an identifying plaque with <br /> some historical background on Benjamin Tonsler at the <br /> Tonsler Playground; and also plaques be erected at other <br /> places or buildings acquired by the City, was unanimously <br /> <br /> adopted. <br /> \ <br /> On motion by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mr. Fife <br /> the following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> I~EREAS, the Virginia Fraternal Congress has <br /> duly applied fora permit to conduct raffles in compliance <br /> with ~19-36 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, <br /> 1965, as amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Virginia <br /> Fraternal Congress meets the qualifications as outlined <br /> in §19-36; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council <br /> of the City of Charlottesville that a oermit be granted <br /> to the Virginia Fraternal Congress to conduct raffles <br /> in accordance with all the orovisions of §19-36 of the <br /> Code of the City of Charlottesville for a period of one <br /> year from the date of this resolution; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the <br /> Council be directed to send a copy of this resolution to <br /> the Secretary of the Virginia Fraternal Congress. <br /> <br /> <br />
