Coles Approving Loan of $6,042.47 to the Airport Board i23 authorize the City a five year lease of the McGuffey School building to the McGuffey Arts~ Associanion, Inc. (2) That the first year~s rent and commission to the City on sales and fees be set at the same rate as last year, but that provision be made for adjustment in future years if the City's operating expenses for the building should be drastically altered. (3) That the excess of revenue over expenses be -"z considered as City funds and accounted for in whatever manner is deemed to be the soundest accounting practive, but that the City make a commitment to consider these funds as a reserve for maintenance and improvements of the McGuffey property. On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, seconded by Mr. Gilliam these recommendations of the committee were unanimously adopted. A communication was presented from the Eng%neering Division of the Public Works Department recommending that the streets in Longwood Park Subdivision be accepted into the City Street System for maintenance. On motion by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mrs. Rinehart fhe foregoing recommendation was unanimously adopted. A communication was presented from the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department recommending that Greenbrier Terrace be accepted into the City Street System for maintenance. On motion by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mr. Van Yahres the foregoing recommendation was unanimously adopted. On motion by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mr. Van Yahres the following resolution was unanimously adopted. · WHEREAS, the death of George Minor Coles on June 14, 1976, has shocked and saddened the members of this Council; and WHEREAS, he had serve~ the people of the City and State faithfully for many years as Judge of the Corporation Court, and later the Circuit Court, of the City of Charlottesville; and WHEREAS, Judge Coles was a highly respected jurist, whose patient but firm administration of justice was of great benefit to this community; and WHEREAS, his infallible courtsey, his unquestioned integrity, and his-innate good humor were qualities which will be ~orely missed by his friends and associates; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that the members of this Council express their sorrow upon the d~ath of George Minor Coles, and extend their sincere sympathy and that of the people of this City, to his widow and family; and be it further RESOLVED, that the Clerk b~ directed to send a copy of this resolution to Mrs. Coles as a token of the esteem in which her husband was held by this body. On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, seconded by Mr. Gilliam the Airport was granted a $6,042.47 cash advance to be repaid when the Airport received grant reimbursement from the Federal Aviation Administration.
