Coles <br /> <br />Approving Loan of <br />$6,042.47 to the <br />Airport Board <br /> <br />i23 <br /> <br />authorize the City <br />a five year lease of the <br />McGuffey School building to the McGuffey Arts~ <br />Associanion, Inc. <br /> <br />(2) That the first year~s rent and commission to <br />the City on sales and fees be set at the same rate <br />as last year, but that provision be made for <br />adjustment in future years if the City's operating <br />expenses for the building should be drastically <br />altered. <br /> <br /> (3) That the excess of revenue over expenses be <br /> -"z considered as City funds and accounted for in <br /> whatever manner is deemed to be the soundest <br /> accounting practive, but that the City make a <br /> commitment to consider these funds as a reserve for <br /> maintenance and improvements of the McGuffey property. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, seconded by Mr. Gilliam these <br /> recommendations of the committee were unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A communication was presented from the Eng%neering <br />Division of the Public Works Department recommending that <br />the streets in Longwood Park Subdivision be accepted into <br />the City Street System for maintenance. On motion by <br />Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mrs. Rinehart fhe foregoing <br />recommendation was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A communication was presented from the Engineering <br />Division of the Public Works Department recommending <br />that Greenbrier Terrace be accepted into the City <br /> <br />Street System for maintenance. On motion by Mr. Gilliam, <br />seconded by Mr. Van Yahres the foregoing recommendation <br />was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by Mr. Van Yahres <br />the following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> · WHEREAS, the death of George Minor Coles on <br />June 14, 1976, has shocked and saddened the members of <br />this Council; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he had serve~ the people of the <br />City and State faithfully for many years as Judge of <br />the Corporation Court, and later the Circuit Court, of <br />the City of Charlottesville; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Judge Coles was a highly respected jurist, <br />whose patient but firm administration of justice was of <br />great benefit to this community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, his infallible courtsey, his unquestioned <br />integrity, and his-innate good humor were qualities which <br />will be ~orely missed by his friends and associates; now, <br />therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />that the members of this Council express their sorrow upon <br />the d~ath of George Minor Coles, and extend their sincere <br />sympathy and that of the people of this City, to his <br />widow and family; and be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, that the Clerk b~ directed to send <br />a copy of this resolution to Mrs. Coles as a token of <br />the esteem in which her husband was held by this body. <br /> <br />On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, seconded by Mr. Gilliam <br /> <br />the Airport was granted a $6,042.47 cash advance to be <br /> <br />repaid when the Airport received grant reimbursement from <br />the Federal Aviation Administration. <br /> <br /> <br />
