Resolution re: Appointing <br />Viewers for Lee Street <br /> <br />Communication re: requesting <br />HUD to review certain <br />Community Development <br />Revenue Sharing Projects <br />which were not funded <br /> <br />Resolution re: Accepting <br />grant of $121,040 for <br />the Jefferson-Madison <br />Regional Library <br /> <br />i3 7 <br /> <br /> On .motion by Mr. Fife seconded by Mr. Barbour the <br />following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION appointing viewers to consider a <br />request for the vacation of an alley lying southwest of <br />Lee Street. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition <br />requesting vacation of an alley approximately 15 feet in <br />width and running for a distance of 310 feet, more or <br />less, in a southwesterly direction from Lee Street and <br />bordering along Parcels 92, 94, 95, 99, 100 and 101 on <br />City Tax Map 10; and <br /> <br /> '~ WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the notices <br />required by See~$on 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), <br />as amended, has been duly posted; <br /> <br /> NOW, .THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br />the City of Charlottesville that Messrs. J. P. Borden, <br />Mason S. Byrd and H. P. Winn report in writing to <br />Council what inconvenience, if any, would result from <br />such vacation. <br /> <br /> A communication was presented from the City Manager <br />listing eight projects in the City's 1976-77 Community <br />Development Revenue Sharing Program which were disapproved <br />by the HUD, Richmond Offices. It stated that the funds <br />for these projects were not lost as a result of their <br />disapproval, but were placed in a fund for contingencies <br />for other projects. It also stated that the Task Force <br />and the City Council felt that these were all good projects <br />or they would not have been submitted and recommended that <br />three of the programs should be resubmitted through HUD's <br />appeal process. The three projects to be resubmitted are <br />Social Services Coordinator, $14,345; Child Care Services, <br />$20,965; and Training Coordinator, $17,790. Mr. George <br />Wiley, addressed the Council and requested that the <br />Community Development Revenue Sharing Task Force be called <br />to consider which items should be appealed. A motion by <br />Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife that the three items <br /> <br />outlined above be resubmitted through HUD's appeal process, <br />was unanimously adopted~ <br /> <br /> A communication was presented from Mr. Christopher <br /> <br />B. Devan, Director of'Jefferson-Madison Regional~,Library, <br />stating that the State and Federal grants-in-aid which <br />are bring offered to the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library <br />under a new state law may not be used until they are <br />approved by each of the parent jurisdictions of the Library <br />and requested a resolution accepting these funds. On motion <br />by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Barbour the following <br />resolution, was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Charlottesville has been <br />informed that the Virginia State Library is offering <br />grants-in-aid to the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library <br />for Fiscal Year 1976-77 in the amounts of: <br /> <br />State Aid: <br />Federal Aid: <br /> <br />$70,597 <br />$50,443 <br /> <br /> <br />
