Consideration re: Capital Improvements Program Ordinance re: Increasing the charge for providing ooncrete vaults in City Cemeteries Consideration re: ~rdinance - Lee Street Matters by the Public On motion by Mr. Gatewood, Mrs. Margaret Carter, was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Nancy O'Brien, term to expire August 31, 1978, by unanimous vote. On motion by Mr. Brunton, Mrs, Margaret Carter and Mrs. Virginia Schatz were appointed to the Social Development Commission as the Planning Commission representatives. On motion by Mr. Brunton, Mr. Saty~ndra Huja, was appointed to the Central Piedmont Urban Observatory Policy Board, replacing Jerry Miller, by unanimous vote. On motion by Mr. Barbour, Mrs. Jill T. Rinehart, was reappointed to the Jefferson Area Board for Aging, by unanimous vote. On motion by Mr. Fife, Mrs. Stephanie Hathaway, Miss Sylvia Horowitz, Mrs. June O'Mansky and Mr. Clarence Roberts were appointed to the Community Attention Home Board, by unanimous vote. The resolution appropriating $20,000 for Central Virginia Child Development Association, which was offered at the meeting of the Council on July 19, 1976, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, ~. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. The City Manager presented the Capital Improvements Program, 1976-1981 and asked for its approval. He stated that there were two ways of doing this (1) update with priorities, now, or (2) wait and update along with the 1977-78 Fiscal Year Budget. After some discussion, a work session was set for August 31, 1976 at 7:30 P.M. in the Basement Conference Room to go over the Capital Improvements Program. An ordinance entitled "A~ ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 6-9 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, ENTITLED "CHARGE FOR GRAVE SPACE AND DIGGING GRAVES," which was offered at the meeting of Council on July 19, 1976, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND DISCONTINUING A 15 FOOT ALLEY RUNNING IN A SOUTHWESTERLY DIRECTION FOR APPROXIMATELY 310 FEET FROM LEE STREET," was offered by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Barbour and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. Mr. Odell Younger addressed the Council and stated that he had submitted a petition to the Traffic Department regarding street lighting in the Ridge Street Area. Mr. Younger was under the impression that his petition had been turned down, referring to a letter he had received from Mr. Hendrix. Mr. Hendrix explained to Mr. Younger that his petition had not been turned down, that street lights were now considered on a quarterly basis due to the fact that there is no money None.
