Child Develop- <br />ment Assoc. <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Capital Improvements <br />Program <br /> <br />Ordinance re: <br />Increasing the <br />charge for providing <br />ooncrete vaults <br />in City Cemeteries <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />~rdinance - Lee <br />Street <br /> <br />Matters by the <br />Public <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gatewood, Mrs. Margaret Carter, was <br /> appointed to fill the unexpired term of Nancy O'Brien, term <br /> to expire August 31, 1978, by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Brunton, Mrs, Margaret Carter and Mrs. <br /> Virginia Schatz were appointed to the Social Development <br /> Commission as the Planning Commission representatives. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Brunton, Mr. Saty~ndra Huja, was <br /> <br /> appointed to the Central Piedmont Urban Observatory Policy <br /> Board, replacing Jerry Miller, by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barbour, Mrs. Jill T. Rinehart, was <br /> reappointed to the Jefferson Area Board for Aging, by <br /> unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, Mrs. Stephanie Hathaway, Miss <br /> <br /> Sylvia Horowitz, Mrs. June O'Mansky and Mr. Clarence Roberts <br /> were appointed to the Community Attention Home Board, by <br /> unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $20,000 for Central Virginia <br /> Child Development Association, which was offered at the <br /> meeting of the Council on July 19, 1976, was adopted by the <br /> following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, <br /> ~. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> The City Manager presented the Capital Improvements Program, <br /> 1976-1981 and asked for its approval. He stated that there were <br /> two ways of doing this (1) update with priorities, now, or <br /> (2) wait and update along with the 1977-78 Fiscal Year Budget. <br /> After some discussion, a work session was set for August 31, <br /> 1976 at 7:30 P.M. in the Basement Conference Room to go over <br /> the Capital Improvements Program. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "A~ ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING <br />SECTION 6-9 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />ENTITLED "CHARGE FOR GRAVE SPACE AND DIGGING GRAVES," which was <br />offered at the meeting of Council on July 19, 1976, was <br />adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, <br />Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND <br />DISCONTINUING A 15 FOOT ALLEY RUNNING IN A SOUTHWESTERLY <br />DIRECTION FOR APPROXIMATELY 310 FEET FROM LEE STREET," was <br />offered by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Barbour and carried <br />over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> Mr. Odell Younger addressed the Council and stated that he <br />had submitted a petition to the Traffic Department regarding <br />street lighting in the Ridge Street Area. Mr. Younger was <br />under the impression that his petition had been turned down, <br />referring to a letter he had received from Mr. Hendrix. Mr. <br />Hendrix explained to Mr. Younger that his petition had not <br />been turned down, that street lights were now considered on <br />a quarterly basis due to the fact that there is no money <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br /> <br />
