180 <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Viewers - Wood <br />Street & Adjacent <br />Alley <br /> <br />ResolUtion re: <br />Raffle Permit - <br />Beta Sigma Phi <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Charlottesville <br />Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority to' <br />proceed to close out <br />Vinegar Hill Project <br /> <br />taxes. A motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour that the <br />remaining $4,000 be released to Madison House by the following <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, ~. Fife and Mrs. <br /> <br />0'Brien. ~oes: Mr. Gatewood. <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION appointing viewers to consider a request <br />for the vacation of a street and an alley. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition <br />requesting vacgtion of Wood Street located between Grady <br />Avenue and West Street and an alley approximately 15 feet <br />wide running in an easterly direction from Wood~-Street for <br />approximately 111 feet and bordering along Parcels 67 and <br />68 on City Tax Map 31; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS,~ it~ appears to Council that the notices <br />required by Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), <br />as amended, have been duly posted; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of charlottesville that Messrs. J. P. Borden, Mason S. <br />Byrd and H. P. Winn report in writing to Council what <br />inconvenience, if any, would result from such vacation. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Brunton the <br /> <br />following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> WHEREAS, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority has duly applied for <br />a permit to conduct raffles in compliance with §17-19 of <br />the Code of the City'of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that Beta Sigma Phi <br />Sorority meets the qualification as outlined in §17-19; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to Beta <br />Sigma Phi Sorority to conduct raffles in accordance with all <br />the proviSions of §17-19 of the Code of the City of <br />Charlottesville for a period of one year from the date of this <br />resolution; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council <br />be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Beta Sigma <br />Phi Sorority. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Fife the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has become apparent to this Council that <br />there are substantial monetary benefits which could accrue <br />to the City of Charlottesville and the Charlottesville <br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority from expediting the <br />financial settlement ~ and closeout of the Authority's Vinegar <br />Hill Urban Renewal Project, No. VA R-12; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />that the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />be requested to begin immediately the necessary steps for <br />financial settlement and closeout of such project pursuant to <br />applicable regulations of the United States Department of <br />Housing and Urban Development; and be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that the City Manager and City Attorney be <br />authorized and directed to begin negotiation of an agreement <br />between the City and the Authority setting forth the <br />relative responsibilities of such two bodies with respect to <br />such closeout and other pertinent matters, and to submit such <br />agreement for Council's approval once they are substantially <br />in accord with the Authority as to its terms. <br /> <br /> <br />
