!,.'-,8:7 <br /> <br />Staff Report re: Anti- The City Manager advised the Council tha~ under Title <br />Recession Fiscal Assistance <br />Title II II of the Public Works Employment Act of 1976 the City <br /> <br />anticipates receiving approximately $44,106 which can be <br /> <br />used to employ persons for a period of about one year. He <br />recommended that he be authorized to emp.~oy three persons <br />with these funds as follows: 1. Training Coordinator. <br /> <br />2. Social Services Coordinator. 3. Copy Machine Operator. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the City <br />Manager was authorized to employ the training coordinator and <br />social services coordinator and the third position be carried <br />over to the next meeting for consideration. Mr. Fife suggested <br />using the funds to hire a Housing Coordinator. Mrs. O'Brien <br /> <br />requested that consideration be given to using the funds for an <br />Information and Referral Director. Mr. Hendrix was to suggest <br />alternative staff positions for Council's consideration. <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$26,000 - Washington <br />Park Pool <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$400,000 Capital Fund <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $26,000 for repairs to the <br />Washington Park Swimming Pool, which was offered at the meeting <br />of the Council on November 15, 1976, was adopted by the <br />following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. <br />Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Brunton. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $400,000 as a transfer from <br />the General Fund to the Capital Fund which was offered at the <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Capital Program <br /> <br />meeting of the Council on November 15, 1976, was adopted by <br /> <br />the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, <br /> <br />~. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. Absent: ~. Brunton. <br /> <br /> The City Manager's proposed five year capital program was <br />again discussed, however action was deferred to the first <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Stuart S. Rothwell <br /> <br />meeting in January, 1977. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the <br />following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Stuart S. Rothwell served the City of <br />Charlottesville as a member of the Board of Zoning Appeals from <br />1941 to 1976; and <br /> <br /> I,~EREAS, Mr. Rothwell served the City as Registrar from <br />1945 to 1970; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Rothwell faithfully and efficiently <br />performed his duties for the CitY, spanning 35 years on the <br />Board of Zoning Appeals and 25 years as Registrar; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE-IT RESOLVED THAT the Councii of <br />the City of Charlottesville, in behalf of all the citizens of <br />the community, extends its sincerest thanks to Mr. Stuart S. <br />Rothwell for his many years of dedicated public service; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Clerk of the City <br />Council be directed to deliver to Mr. Rothwell a copy of this <br />resolution and to convey to Mr. Rothwell the Council's <br />appreciation for years of contribution to the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia. <br /> <br /> <br />
