On motion by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. <br />Fife it was unanimously RESOLVED that the City Council send a <br />letter to Virginia Department of Corrections stating that <br />Charlottesvi%le intends to operate a residential care <br />facility for girls. On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunton the City Manager was authorized to seek an option on <br />property to be used for a Girls Attention Home. On motion by <br />Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Brunton the following <br />resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting <br />for consideration. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville that $40,000 be and the same is hereby <br />appropriated from the Capital Fund for the City's share <br />of the cost of purchasing property to be used for a <br />Girls' Attention Home. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour the <br />following resolution was offered and carried over to the next <br />meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br /> Charlottesville that $16,792 be and the same is hereby <br /> appropriated from Title II, Public Works Employment Act <br /> Funds for a Training Coordinator. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. GateWood the <br /> following resolution was offered and carried over to the <br /> next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br /> Charlottesville that $13,533 be and the same is hereby <br /> appropriated from Title II, Public Works Employment Act <br /> Funds for a Social Services CoOrdinator. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING <br /> AND DISCONTINUING UNOPENED WARE STREET LYING BETWEEN <br /> STONEHENGE AND ROCKLAND AVENUES IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTES- <br /> VILLE,." which was offered at the meeting of the Council on <br /> December 6, 1976, was adopted by the following recorded <br /> vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gate- <br /> wood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes~: None. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br /> SECTION 10-14 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br /> 1976 ESTABLISHING THE TERM OF OFFICE OF MEb~ERS OF THE BOARD <br /> OF EQUALIZATION," which was offered at the meeting of the <br /> Council on December 6, 1976, was adopted by the following <br /> recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, ~fr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, <br /> Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> A proposed ordinance was presented to Council which <br /> would increase the City motor vehicle license fees from <br /> $10.00 to $15.00 for oassenger cars and a proportionate 50% <br /> increase for other types of vehicles; and also transferring <br /> the responsibility for the issuance and collection of <br /> motor vehicle licenses and other types of City fees and <br /> revenue from the Office of Director of Finance to the Office <br /> of the City Treasurer; and providing that personal property <br /> t~xes must be paid on motor vehicles and personel property <br /> belonging to businesses before motor vehicle or business <br /> licenses may be issued. <br /> <br /> <br />
