216 <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Deposit of Public <br />Funds <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Appointing Viewers- <br />Goodman Street <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Establishing a twin <br />City relationship <br />with Poggio a <br />Caiano <br /> <br />Authorizing Mayor <br />to sign deed for <br />Riverside Pumping <br />Station <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City'of Charlottesville that the City Manager is hereby authorized <br />and directed to act as the official representative of the City <br />of Charlottesville in filing applications, understandings, <br />assurances and other documents and information as may be from time <br />to time required in connection with the City's receipt of funds under <br />the COmprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) of 1973, as <br />amended, and to undertake all measures as may be necessary to comply <br />with the requirements applicable to recipients of such funding. <br /> On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Brunton the following <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville that the City Treasurer is authorized to deposit <br />funds~of the City with any financial institution maintaining <br />an office within the corporate limits of the City of <br />Charlottesville which qualifies as a depository for such funds <br />under the provisions of §2.1-329 of the Code of Virginia, as <br />amended. Such deposits may be made in such amounts and for <br />such periods of time as the Treasurer may in his discretion deem <br />advisable. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Fife the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION appointing viewers to consider a rqq.~est <br />for the vacation of alley. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition requesting <br />vacation of a 10 foot alley running in a southwesterly <br />direction fo= approximately 110 feet from Goodman Street &tong <br />Parcels 311, 297 and 298 on City Tax Map 58; and <br /> <br /> WHERAS, it appears to Council that the notices required <br />by Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, <br />have been duly posted; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br /> City of Charlottesville that Messrs. J. P. Borden, Mason S. Byrd <br /> and H. P. Winn report in writing to Council what inconvenience, <br /> if any, would result from such vacation. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Fife the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Albemarle and City of Charlottesville <br />in the Commonwealth of Virginia were privileged during the <br />American Revolution Bicentennial celebration in 1976, to receive <br />a delegation of distinguished public officials and other citizens <br />representing the communes of Poggio a Caiano and of Prato in Italy; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, those Italian municipalities were the birthplace <br />and homeland of Filippo Mazzei, a renowned historic figure of many <br />accomplishments who enjoyed a close friendship and association with <br />the famous and distinguished citizen of our community, Thomas <br />Jefferson; and <br /> WHEREAS the representative leaders of Poggio a Caiano and <br />Prato and of Albemarle and Charlottesville havB indicated their <br />mutual desires to establish a permanent twin-community relationship <br />for the purpose of cultural association and exchange of <br />international goodwill, to include a visit by a delegation of our <br />officials and other citizens to Poggio a Caiano and Prato in the <br />near future; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT concurrently Resolved by the Board <br /> of Supervisors of the County of Albemarle and the Council of the <br /> City of Charlottesville, on behalf of all the citizens of this <br /> community, that our acceptance of the proposal for the <br /> establishment of such a relationship between our jurisdictions be <br /> conveyed to the officials of Poggio a Caiano and Prato with our <br /> warmest greetings, and the commemoration of the historic relation- <br /> ship which existed between Mr. Jefferson and Signor Mazzei; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairman of the Board of <br /> Supervisors of Albemarle County,~and the Mayor of the City of <br /> Charlottesville be authorized to execute suitably prepared copies <br /> of this resolution, which shall be endorsed by the Chairman of <br /> the Albemarle-Charlottesville Bicentennial Commission, thereby <br /> conveying such acceptance to Poggio a Caiano and Prato, and to <br /> advise the appropriate officials of the United States Department of <br /> State and the Consulate General of the Italian government, of the <br /> respective wishes of our communities in this regard. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Barbour the Mayor <br /> was authorized to execute a deed of exchange for land for the <br /> installation, operation and maintenance of the Riverside Pumping <br /> <br />Station. <br /> <br /> <br />
