School of Nursing <br /> <br />Resolution re: APpointing <br />V$'ewems -~Avon~St~eat <br />Alley <br /> <br />Resolution re: Appointing <br />viewers - Garrett St. <br />Project Area <br /> <br />Resolution re: Urging <br />Governor to Veto Senate <br />Bill 735 <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council <br />be directed to send a copy of th~s resolution to the Iota Beta <br />Chapter of Alpha ~h~ Alpha Fraternity, Inc. <br /> On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Barbour the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Fourth Year Class of the University of <br />Virginia School of Nursing and Nursing Student Council has duly <br />applied for a permit to conduct raffles in compliance with <br />§17-19 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as <br />~nnended; and <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Fourth Year <br />Class of the University of Virginia School of Nursing and <br />Nursing Student Council meets the qualifications as outlined in <br />§17-19; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to the Fourth <br />Year Class of the University of Virginia School of Nursing and <br />Council conduct raffles in accordance with all <br />Nursing Student to <br />the provisions of ~17-19 of the Code of the City of <br />Charlottesville fo a period of one year from the date of this <br />resolution; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council be <br /> directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Fourth Year <br /> Class of the UniverSity of Virginia School of Nursing and Nursing <br /> Student Council. <br /> On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Barbour the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION appointing viewers to consider a request <br />for the vacation of an alley. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition requesting <br />vacation of an alley adjacent to the west side of Avon Street <br />between Rockland and Stonehenge Avenues; and <br /> WHEREAS, it appears ~to Council that the notices required <br />by Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, <br />have been duly posted; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Charlottesville that Messrs~z~ J. P. Borden, Mason S. Byrd <br />and H. P. Winn report in writing to Council what inconvenience, <br />if any, would result from such vacation. <br /> On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by. Mr. Barbour the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION appointing viewers to consider a request <br />for the vacation of certain streets and alleys in the Garrett <br />Street Project Area. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition requesting <br />vacation of certain streets and alleyA in. the Garrett Street <br />Project Area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the notices <br />required by Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as <br />amended, have been duly posted; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville that Messrs~J. P. Borden, Mason <br />S. Byrd and W. P. Winn report in writing to Council~what <br />inconvenience, if any, would result~from such vacation. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adOpted. <br /> WHEREAS, the recently adjourned session of the General <br />Assembly adopted Senate Bill 735, which would extend for a <br />period of ten years the current moratorium on the initiation of <br />annexation proceedings by cities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council considers that this legislative <br />limitation is an unfair and unreasonable solution which will <br />seriously harm the well being of Virginia cities; now, there- <br />fore, be it <br /> RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Charlottesville <br />that Governor~!Mills E. Godwin, Jr. be respectfully requested <br />to veto Senate Bill 735; and be it further <br /> <br /> <br />
