On motion <br />by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the following resolution <br />was unanimously adopted. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville that there is hereby granted pursuant to ~31-33 of the Code <br />of the City of Charlottesville a special permit for the use of <br />the property at 503 Rugby'Road for construction of a sorority <br />house having sleeping and living accommodations for thirty- <br />six residents on such property. Such permit shall be subject <br />to the conditions and regulations set forth in the foresaid <br />§31-33 for such higher density~ development as well as to all <br />~f such City Code, including the obtaining by the developers <br />of an approved site plan prior to initiating use of the property <br />for such purposes. <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br /> SECTION 20-32 OF THE CODE OF T~E CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br /> AS AMENDED, RELATING TO SURVIVOR'S ALLOWANCES," which was offered <br /> at the meeting of the Council on February 6, 1978, was adopted <br /> by the fOllowing recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, <br /> Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND <br /> DISCONTINUING APPLE STREET IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE," which <br /> was offgred at the meeting of the Council on February 6, 1978, <br /> was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, <br /> Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. <br /> Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN CRDINANCE TO AMENDAND REORDAIN <br /> SECTION 27-16 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br /> RELATING TO THE TAXICAB RATES," which was offered at the meeting <br /> of the. Council on February 6, 1978, was adopted by the following <br /> recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. <br /> Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. No. es: None. Carla Despizito <br /> addresSed the Council and objected to increasing the time <br /> charge in the taxi cab rate. She stated that under the plan <br /> it would be difficult to figure out how much a taxi would cost <br /> because of varying conditions. She stated she would like to <br /> see a revision in the ordinance eliminating the time charge, <br /> except when standing. <br /> <br /> A communication was presented from the Planning Commission <br /> recommending approval of the petition to rezone property located <br /> at 517 and 521 Locust Avenue for the following reasons: 1. it <br /> is compatable to the recommendations made in the Martha Jefferson <br /> Impact Study; and 2. there is the need for B-1 zone land in <br /> the area for the hospital and medical related uses. An ordinance <br /> entitled "AN~ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING THE DISTRI.CT MAP <br /> INCORPORATED IN SECTION 31-4 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CODE <br /> <br /> <br />
