2 <br /> Ms. Alia Anderson, 702 - B Belmont Avenue, representing ACCT, thanked <br />Council for their support of Safe Routes to School. She said the p rogram is being <br />conducted at Burnley - Moran School and they plan to expand the program. <br /> <br /> Ms. Anna Kerry, 703 Wilder Drive, a student at Burnley Moran, said she is <br />grateful for the Burnley Moran Walk to School program and thinks the sidewalks on the <br />bridges over the 250 Bypass are great. <br /> <br /> Mr. Taylor Wright, 600 Grove Avenue, a student at Burnley Moran, said walking <br />to school is important and healthy and makes people strong <br /> <br /> Ms. Grace Bartok, 710 Stonehenge Avenue, a student at Burnley Moran, said that <br />walk ing makes people feel good about themselves. <br /> <br /> Ms. Teresa Perry, 703 Wilder Drive, said she often walks a mile to school with <br />her children and having the program shows kids that they can walk places and has given <br />them a sense of community. <br /> <br /> Ms. Barnett Me llen, 1107 Calhoun Street, thanked Council for their support of the <br />Walk to School program and said it provides an opportunity for physical exercise. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jim Moore, 1213 Hazel Street, thanked Council for reviewing his and John <br />Pfaltz's concerns about Cit y Link. He said he has an alternative for Council and has <br />received a proposal from one vendor at a fraction of the cost of City Link, $859,000. He <br />said that others who have used SAP have reported implementation problems. He said the <br />proposal he receive d has an annual maintenance cost of $136,400 and will pay for itself <br />in three years. Mr. Moore asked Council to appoint an emergency task force to look into <br />the matter. <br /> <br /> Ms. Jackie Taylor, 104 Northwood Circle, representing Preservation Piedmont, <br />read a letter from Preservation Piedmont President Betty Ford regarding the proposed <br />development at the corner of Ridge and Cherry. She said it could adversely impact the <br />surrounding historic neighborhoods. She said City owned property is included in the <br />plans, but the City should not encourage this development. She said the City should <br />explain its view at a publicly announced meeting. <br /> <br /> Mr. John Pfaltz, 1503 Rugby Road, said the SAP purchase will be a costly <br />decision and he thinks the contract should be cancel led. If, however, the contract is not <br />cancelled, he said he is willing to work with the City. He said the expenditure is only <br />justified if it really saves money. <br /> <br /> Mr. Peter Kleeman, 407 Hedge Street, thanked outgoing Councilors Cox and <br />Richards for the ir service. Mr. Kleeman said Ms. Richards provided leadership on the <br />MPO. He said he hopes Council can have an open discussion of the goals of the City and <br />individual Councilors. He said he believes the open process used a few years ago about <br />appointmen ts to the MPO was a good model for other boards and commissions. <br />
