3 <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown suggested adding an “*” to indicate this item is tentative until it is <br />discussed during the budget. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said there is still no report on the work with Albemarle County EMS. <br />He said it looks like we are doing our own thing. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said he plans to sit down with representatives of the Rescue Squad. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown suggested adding something regarding preparedness for a flu <br />pandemic and other type emergencies. <br /> <br />Strategy IV: Implemented Bike/Pedestrian Plan <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said these initiatives are all underway or will be shortly, and suggested <br />adding something about providing an overarching update, etc. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tolbert said this is also included in the Connected Community vision theme. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said we are missing a strategy and suggested adding expanding <br />support for outreach for underserved communities. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said maybe this should be added to Strategy VI. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch suggested including the work of the Nature Conservancy in Strategy V <br />and including the area behind Seminole and Michie Drive in the bike network. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said he will double check the Connected Communities vision <br />theme to see if that is included there. <br /> <br />Strategy VI; Prioritize health needs of the community as a basis for health delivery <br />and/or program planning. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said perhaps some of Mr. Lynch’s questions about poverty could be <br />included in initiative #1 for this strategy. <br /> <br /> Dr. Lilian Peake, Director of the Health Department, asked that someone serve on <br />the community health assessment committee. <br /> <br />C’ville Arts and Culture <br /> <br /> Councilors indicated they support the statement as written. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said there are several philosophical issues with this vision theme. <br /> <br />Strategy I: Develop community-wide plan for assessment, coordination, support and <br />promotion of arts, culture and entertainment. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said one question is whether we go back and establish an arts <br />group. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said he would like to see the previous arts group back together. He <br />said arts are not being done strategically. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said we should look at where there are gaps and perhaps involve <br />Piedmont Council of the Arts. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown suggested adding assess our needs and scratch off hiring a firm, and <br />Councilors agreed. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown suggested adding “explore” creating a structure to gather community <br />arts, culture, heritage and entertainment leaders. <br /> <br />
