5 <br /> Mr. Norris said he would rather not have Economic Development staff analyze <br />opportunities to create a single web based ticketing and calendar site, and asked if this is <br />something the CACVB could do. <br /> <br /> Mr. Shore said yes. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said he would like for all smaller arts venues be included, and Mr. <br />Shore said they can be added. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch asked about the role of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Performing Arts <br />Center. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said it is not a good venue. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said he would like to hear the impact of other venues on the MLK <br />Center, and would like to figure out a nitch for it. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said staff is being scaled back at the MLK Center. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said he would like to discuss the equity issues of funding for arts <br />organizations, purchasing policy for Art in Place, and the Percent for Arts Program. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown suggested that Council hold a work session in June, July or August on <br />these issues. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell suggested adding that as a strategy. <br /> <br />Smart Citizen-Focused Government <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said that a number of these strategies that deal with regionalism <br />came out strongly from the Strategic Plan Task Force. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said nothing in the vision statement mentions regionalism. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said she was thinking more narrowly about this vision theme, such <br />as Strategy #8: Increased level of customer service across departments, including access <br />for diverse populations, ease transaction, personal friendliness and satisfaction with <br />results. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris suggested adding “in cooperation with regional partners” to the <br />statement. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch suggested adding “Charlottesville will work with regional partners to <br />ensure the regional planning and provision of services where possible.” <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown suggested lumping regional issues into a single strategy. <br /> <br /> Council agreed that Strategy #8 would become #1. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said he would like a stand alone strategy that talks about citizen <br />participation. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown suggested adding public comment and the Neighborhood Leadership <br />Institute. <br /> <br />Mr. Lynch suggested adding the Police Academy. Mr. Lynch said he would like <br />to see more outreach to citizens to get them more involved in City government. <br /> <br />Dr. Brown said he would like to ensure that the public knows what the City is <br />doing, and suggested varying the times and locations of meetings. <br /> <br /> <br />
