169 <br /> <br />f. APPROPRIATION: $2t,000 - Fire Station Location Study (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Policy Committee of the Planning and Coordination Council (PACC) <br />has approved hiring a consultant to identify potential locations for future fire stations in the <br />area, the cost of which would be shared equally by the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle <br />County and the University of Virginia; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that the <br />sum of $21,000.00 is hereby appropriated to fund the cost of a study to identiiS~ locations for <br />future fire stations to serve the City, Albemarle County' and the University of Virginia. This <br />appropriation is conditiofled upon receipt of $7,000 each from Albemarle County and the <br />University of Virginia, as well as $7,000 from the unappropriated balance of the General <br />Fund to support the City's share of the costs. <br /> <br />g. RESOLUTION: Authorizing Va. Juvenile Community Crime Act Grant <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the t 995 Virginia General Assembly enacted the virginia Juvenile <br />Community Crime Control Act to establish balanced, community-based systems of sanctions, <br />programs, and services for juvenile offenders effective January 1, 1996; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Youth and Family Ser~qces has approved funding for <br />the City of charlottesville through the Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act for <br />FY 1997 in the amount of $589,443; and <br /> <br /> WltEREAS, the City of Charlottesville has submitted a plan to the Department to use <br />these Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act funds to provide services to youth <br />who come before the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court in FY 1997; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Charlottesville certifies <br />that it: <br /> <br />Will not contribute less funding for the implementation of this local plan than <br />was expended for block grant funded programs for services either operated or <br />utilized in FY 1995 in compliance with § 16.1-309.6 of the Code of Virginia; <br /> <br />Will not utilize funds provided by this Act to supplant funds established as the <br />state p ool of fund s under ~ 2.1-757 in compliance with ~ 16.1-309.3 C of the <br />Code of Virginia; <br /> <br />Will comply with all provisions of § 16.1-309.9 of the Code of Virginia which <br />gives the Board of Juvenile Justice the authority to establish and enforce <br />standards and to review the expenditures and services established by the local <br />plan; <br /> <br />Consulted with the judge(s) of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District <br />Court and the Director(s) of the Court Services of the participating <br />jurisdiction(s); and <br /> <br />Will submit routine reports and any other information to the Director of the <br />Department of Juvenile Justice for each program or service funded by the Act <br />in compliance with § 16.2-309.3E and § 16.1-309.10 of the Code of Virginia <br />and all applicable Departmental procedures. <br /> <br />h. RESOLUTION: Proclaiming Domestic Violence Awareness Month <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the Commonwealth of Virginia 29,854 women and 9,977 children <br />sought domestic violence services from July 1994 to June 1995; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charlottesville cormnunity is committed to restoring the right to <br />freedom from fear in our own homes; and <br /> <br /> <br />
