61 <br /> <br /> Ms. Susan Wiedman expressed concern about the removal of <br />trees as a result of the mall extension. <br /> <br /> Ms. Katherine Shane, 237 Highland Avenue, also expressed <br />concern about the removal of the trees and stated that she <br />felt our connection to nature needed to be protected. <br /> <br /> Ms. Daugherty stated that while she agrees that the <br />planning process for construction projects needed to be <br />improved, she noted that the east end mall extension will <br />create a park-like area. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter suggested that the Departments of Planning <br />and Public Works address the planning process on other <br />capital projects. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano requested that the resolution authorizing <br />the Literary Loan Application by the Schools for Burnley <br />Moran be removed from the consent agenda. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Louie <br />Chapman~ Assistant City Manager, stated that it was possible <br />that Albemarle County children receive free lunch provided <br />by the SumMer Lunch Program. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. DaUgherty, seconded by Mr. Toscano, the <br />following consent agenda items were unanimously approved, <br />with the minutes of April 19th corrected by Ms. Daugherty: <br /> <br />a.
