149 <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that a Summer Food service Program <br />be established as part of the City of Charlottesville's <br />Summer Recreation Programs and $47,011.77 is hereby <br />appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the General <br />Fund to account code 11-042-062028 in the Grants Fund for the <br />purpose of carrying out this program. Such apPropriation <br />shall be conditioned upon substantial reimbursement to the <br />General Fund by USDA. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM <br /> <br /> Mr. Satyendra Huja, Director of Community Development, <br />explained that the appropriation would appropriate funds for <br />the FY 92-93~CDBG program; reprogram funds for the <br />downpayment program, and reprogram funds for Fifeville <br />neighborhood improvements. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />appropriation programming and reprogramming CDBG funds was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter requested that a simpler, less involved <br /> summary sheet be provided to Council in the future for CDBG <br /> appropriations. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: ~34,090 - DRUG SEIZURE ASSETS <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. vandeVer, seconded by Mr. Toscano, the <br /> $34,090 appropriation of drug seizure assets was offered and <br /> carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION:~ $5,000 - DONATION TO MOUNTED PATROL <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. ~Slaughter, seconded by Mr. TosCano, the <br /> $5~000 appropriation of the donation to the mounted patrol <br /> was offered ~and carried over to the next meeting for <br /> consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $1,500 - DMV GRANT FOR RADAR UNITS <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, the <br />~1,500 appropriation of the DMV grant for radar units was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />APPRopRIATION: $125~000 - JAIL RENOVATIONS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix explained that the County has approved their <br /> share of the renovations, bUt the State will not promise to <br /> refund the City and County funds for their share of the <br /> renovation. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded bY Mr. Vandever, the <br /> $125,000 appropriation for jail renovations was offered and <br /> carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano stated that it was his.understanding that <br /> if the State does not reimburse the City and County for a <br /> share of the renovation then the kitchen renovations will not <br /> be done and Mr. Vandever replied that this was true and that <br /> the Jail Board felt that ithe modular units have priority over <br /> the kitchen renovations. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: REPLACEMENT HOUSING PROPOSAL <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix explained that the resolution would <br /> authorize the Charlottesville Housing Improvement Program <br /> (CHIP) to rebuild homes with HUD funds when it is deemed to <br /> be economically infeasible to renovate, on a ~one-year <br /> trial basis. <br /> <br /> <br />
