Mr. Vandever stated that he would support delaying the <br />decision at the recommendation of the Downtown Task Force. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that because of the advance <br />scheduling required for such a forum and because of the <br />upcoming summer season and previous desire on the par% of <br />the City not to discuss matters' which require community input <br />during that time, it is conceivable that the matter would <br />have to be put off until early fall if a final deCision on <br />the hiring of a facilitator is delayed. <br /> <br /> Mr. AtwOod stated that after the DoWntOwn Task FOrce <br />presents its report, it may be deCided to change the process <br />and not hire a facilitator. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that he felt it was critical to have an <br />energetic group and that it woUld be unwise to reject the <br />request of the Downtown Task Force to delay, <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Buck, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />second reading of the $10,000 appropriation for a downtown <br />forum was unanimously deferred to the May 1st meeting. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $1,500 - DONATIONS TO MOUNTED POLICE FUND <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />$1,500 appropriation of the donations to the Mounted pOlice <br />Fund was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: ~200 - DONATIONS TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Vandever, seconded by Mr. Towe, the <br /> $200 appropriation of-the donations to the Fire Department <br /> was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev. <br /> Edwards, Mr. Towe, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br /> Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $200, received as <br /> donations to-the Fire Department, ~is hereby appropriated to <br /> expenditure account 05-260-042012-53199 to be expended as <br /> directed by the Fire Chief for the benefit of Fire Department <br /> personnel. · <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: APPROVING FY 89-90 CDBG PROGRAM <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the staff has recommended one <br /> change in the CDBG Program recommended by the CDBG Task <br /> Force, funding the Monticello Area Community Action Agency's <br /> (MACAA) Housing Counseling Program out of CDBG funds instead <br /> of out of the General Fund. Mr. Hendrix recommended that the <br /> program be funded out of the targeted neighborhood funds. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Vandever, seconded by Rev. Edwards, the <br /> resolution approving the FY 89'90 CDBG Program as recommended <br /> by Mr. Hendrix was unanimously approved by. Council. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: SUPPORTING VIRGINIA HOUSING PARTNERSHIP GRANT FOR <br />MACAA <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that MACAA has requested the City's <br />support for their grant application and noted that no City <br />funds were involved. ~ <br /> <br /> Mr. Ken Ackerman, Executive ~Director ~of MACAA, stated <br />that if awarded, the grant would be used for rental <br />transitional housing which MACAA would,ensure would be made <br />compatible with the surrounding neighborhoods. Mr. Ackerman <br />stated that he has met with the Rose Hill Neighborhood <br />Association Executive Committee to ~discuss~their concerns and <br />has assured them that MACAA would promote stability and <br />protect the safety of the neighborhood. <br /> <br /> <br />
