' <br /> <br />FORMER SHE HOUSE <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano stated that he thought Council needed a few <br /> more options-to conside~ for the former SHE~site. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters recommended that--Council give a limited time <br /> for non-residential proposals to be brought forward and <br /> otherwise, she would favor letting CHF use the house for <br /> transitional housing. ~ · · <br /> <br /> Mr. Louie Chapman, Assistant'CitY-Manager, stated that- <br /> staff had rejected using the house for community use because <br /> of its proximity to Tonsler Park'and Buf0rdt-School and. <br /> favored keeping it reSidential~~ <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano suggested making a deal with CHF to let them <br /> use the SHE house in exchange for~providing'~the City with <br /> consulting help. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters stated that she was open to trying the <br /> proposal made,by Keith~WoOdard in Fifeville~on the SHE house <br /> because'it'.would,allow it'to-~be tried out on a smaller scale. <br /> Ms. waters recommended that such a proposal be sought. <br /> <br />LEVY AVENUE <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter questioned whether the Levy Avenue <br />property was better developed as residential or commercial. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano stated~that one option would be to sell the <br />property for commercial develOpment~and use the funds for <br />other housing initiatives. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja-stated that the City may need to use the <br />property for spillover parking during construction of the <br />parking garage on Water Street. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters stated that she was not comfortable selling <br />and allowing any sort of development on the~Levy Avenue site <br />at this time~ <br /> <br /> Ms.~Slaughter recommended that the property be part of a <br />larger economic development plan. <br /> <br />INFILL HOUSING ' ~ ~ <br /> <br /> MS. ~Wat~s~suggested that staff look at the list bf City <br /> owned properties and make recommendations as~ to their best <br /> use. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano recommended that a group study the issue and <br /> that a Councilor be involved. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell explained that a team of City staff have <br />been looking at the issue and will continue to do so if <br />Council wished to pursue the matter. Mr. O'Connell stated <br />that the group will return to Council~with. a suggested <br />timetable for such a study. <br /> <br /> It was the consensus of CQuncil for'staff to continue <br />looking'at the issue. ~ ~ <br /> <br />PEN PARK PROPERTY <br /> <br /> <br />
