• AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />ARTICLE XVI OF CHAPTER 31 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />BY AMENDING SECTIONS 31-128, 31-130, 31-141 AND 31-146, <br />ADDING SECTIONS 31-127.1, 31-127.2, 31-138.1, 31-139.1, <br />31-139.2, 31-139.3, 31-139.4, 31-140.1, 31-140.2 AND 31-147.1 <br />RELATING TO HISTORIC PRESERVATION AND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN <br />CONTROLS UNDER THE CITY ZONING ORDINANCE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville: <br />1. That Article XVI of Chapter 31 of the Code of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville, 1976 be amended and reordained by amending §931-128, 31-130, <br />31-141 and 31-146 and adding §§31-127.1, 31-127.2, 31-138.1, 31-139.1, <br />31-139.2, 31-139.3, 31-139.4, 31-140.1, 31-140.2 and 31-147.1, as follows: <br />Section 31-127.1. Primary functions of boards and commissions <br />dealing with historic preservation. <br />In carrying out the purposes of this chapter the following bodies <br />shall exercise the respective functions hereinafter set forth: <br />• (a) The City Council: <br />(1) Create and make appointments to the Historic Landmarks <br />Commission and the Board of Architectural Review. <br />(2) Adopt ordinances dealing with historic preservation. <br />(3) Designate Architectural Design Control District <br />boundaries. <br />(4) Designate historic landmarks and sites. <br />(5) Des <br />culturally si <br />(b) The Planninq Commission: <br />architecturally or <br />and sites. <br />(1) Propose and recommend changes or modifications to <br />this ordinance. <br />(2) Propose and recommend historic district boundaries. <br />(3) Review site plans for historic structures, sites and <br />landmarks and structures within the historic district. <br />• <br />
