• Section 31-180. Historic Preservation and Architectural <br />Design Control District. <br />The following regulations shall apply to signs in the ADC <br />District and on ther properties subject to design controls under <br />Section 31-127.2: <br />(a) The total area of all signs permitted for any <br />establishment shall not be greater than twelve square feet. <br />(b) No single wall sign shall have an area greater than six <br />square feet. <br />(c) No freestanding sign shall be higher than twelve feet. <br />Edi No such sign shall be erected until the style,- <br />location,- materiels and design thereof have been awarded e <br />certificate of appropriateness by the board of architectural <br />review.- Notwithstanding the provisions of section 31-179 or 31- <br />181, the board director of planning may approve the attachment or <br />suspension of a sign from an existing freestanding or projecting <br />sign or, in the case of a building on a site with more than one <br />street frontage or more than one principal entrance, one <br />additional freestanding or projecting sign per additional street <br />frontage or principal entrance, if the board director of planning <br />determines that such an arrangement is in keeping with the <br />architectural character of the property. <br />is <br />. . . <br />Section 31-182.1. Non-commercial signs. <br />Any sign authorized in this chapter is allowed to contain - <br />non -commercial copy in lieu of other copy. <br />Section 31-184. Application and permit. <br />(e) A person shall not erect, install, relocate, rehang or <br />maintain over public property any sign for which a permit is <br />required under the provision of this section until the sign owner <br />presents satisfactory evidence that a public liability insurance <br />policy with a minimum of $300.000 single limit coverage is in <br />force during the term of this permit. <br />Such insurance policy shall protect and save the <br />.jurisdiction members from any and all claims or demands for <br />damages by reason of any negligence of the sign hanger, <br />contractor or agents, or by any reason of defects in the <br />• construction or damages resulting from the collapse, failure or <br />combustion of the parts thereof. <br />0 <br />
