• will be available for bills rendered during the months of May <br />through October of each year and shall be as follows: <br />(a) Single Family Residential. For the first four thousand <br />cubic feet of gas used per month, the charge shall be the sum as <br />set forth under section 12-3 of this Code, and for all gas used in <br />excess of four thousand cubic feet per month, the rate shall be <br />$3.70 per one thousand cubic feet. <br />(b) Other. All gas used for summer air conditioning shall <br />be separately billed at the rate of $3.70 per one thousand cubic <br />feet. All gas used during billing periods other than May through <br />October of each year shall be at the rates set forth in section <br />12-3, 12-6 or 12-6.1 of this Code as applicable. The director of <br />finance may, when it is impracticable to install a separate meter <br />for air conditioning equipment, permit the use of one meter for all <br />gas delivered to the customer, in which instance the director of <br />finance shall estimate the amount of gas for uses other than air <br />conditioning and shall bill for such gas at the rates provided in <br />section 12-3, 12-6 or 12-6.1 of this Code as applicable. <br />Sec. 12-4.1. Same - Surcharge on Albemarle County residential <br />customers. <br />Individually metered residential customers located outside the <br />corporate limits of the city, who are subject to a two dollar <br />• maximum monthly charge for the Albemarle County consumer utility <br />tax, shall be subject to a surcharge equal to eight percent of <br />their monthly gas bills, excluding taxes. <br />Sec. 12-5. Same - Ornamental gas lights. <br />Unmetered gas service under this section may be furnished to <br />consumers who have installed ornamental gas lights. <br />(a) Monthly charge. The monthly charge for ornamental gas <br />lights shall be as follows: <br />(1) $57e9 $6.00 per month for each light with single mantle <br />or orifice where the monthly use of gas will not exceed two <br />thousand cubic feet per month per light. <br />(2) Four dollars per month for each mantle or orifice in each <br />light using more than one mantle or orifice where the monthly use <br />of gas through each orifice will not exceed one thousand cubic feet <br />per month. <br />(3) The above rates shall be ten percent higher for such use <br />outside of the city. <br />(b) Maintenance. Lights installed in the street right of way <br />shall belong to the city and shall be maintained by the city. <br />Lights installed on private property shall belong to the property <br />• owner but shall be serviced by the city.
