• AN ORDINANCE Approved February 5, 1996 <br />AMENDING AND REORDAINING SECTIONS 29-3, 29-43, <br />34-4, 34-46, 34-438, 34-439, 34-574, 34-679, <br />34-681, 34-700, 34-728, 34-729, 34-733, 34-779, <br />34-852, 34-854, 34-855, 34-857.1, AND 34-972 <br />OF CHAPTER 34 OF THE CODE OF THE <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1990, AS AMENDED, <br />RELATING TO ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, that Sections 29-3 and 29-43 of Chapter 29, and Sections <br />34-4, 34-46, 34-438, 34-439, 34-574, 34-679, 34-681, 34-700, 34- <br />728, 34-729, 34-733, 34-779, 34-852, 34-854, 34-855, 34-857.1, and <br />34-972 of Chapter 34 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, <br />1990, as amended, are hereby amended and reordained as follows: <br />CHAPTER 29. SUBDIVISIONS <br />ARTICLE I. IN GENERAL <br />Section 29-3. Definitions. <br />• For the purposes of this chapter, the following words shall <br />have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section: <br />Frontage: That side of a lot abutting on a street right-of- <br />way . <br />ARTICLE II. DESIGN STANDARDS AND IMPROVEMENTS. <br />Section 29-43. Preservation of natural features and <br />amenities. <br />(a) Generally. Existing natural features which would add <br />value to residential development or to the City as a whole, such as <br />trees, watercourses, historic spots and similar irreplaceable <br />assets shall be protected wherever practicable in the design of the <br />subdivision. <br />(b) Existing trees. <br />(1) The applicant shall make a bona fide effort to <br />• protect existing trees in the design and development of a <br />Page 1 of 9 <br />
