• A RESOLUTION HONORING <br />ROOSEVELT BROWN <br />WHEREAS, Roosevelt Brown, a native of this City, has brought great <br />credit to himself and to his hometown during a Long and distinguished pro- <br />fessional football career; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Brown first played football at Jefferson High School <br />in this City under the leadership of. Coach Robert Smith; and <br />WHEREAS, following his graduation from Morgan State College he <br />played as offensive tackle for the New York Giants from 1953 through 1966, <br />helping the Giants achieve ten consecutive winning seasons; and.' <br />WHEREAS, during his career Mr. Brown was named all -pro for eight <br />consecutive years, and played in the Pro Bowl ten times; and <br />WHEREAS, the National Footbal.League recognized Roosevelt Brown's <br />great career by naming him to its Hall of Fame in 1975; and <br />• WHEREAS, ori April 27; 1979, he received the further distinction of <br />being inducted'into the Virginia Sports HaLL of Fame; now, therefore be it <br />RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, <br />that we hereby express- to.Roosevelt Brown our congratulations upon his <br />outstanding. achieve'm'ents and the pride of his fellow citizens in the <br />recognition he has received; and' be it further <br />RESOLVED, that the Cierk'of the Council be directed to send a <br />suitably prepared copy of this resolution to Mr. Brown. <br />• <br />
