4 <br />RESOLUTION <br />WELCOMING RALPH SAMPSON <br />TO THE CHARLOTTESVILLE AREA. <br />WHEREAS, Ralph Sampson has been widely recognized as one of <br />the most outstanding high school basketball players in the United States; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, he has recently announced his intention to attend the <br />University of Virginia in the fall of 1979; and . <br />WHEREAS, the University's basketball team is a continuing source <br />of pride to citizens of Charlottesville; and <br />WHEREAS, the addition of this fine player to an already outstanding <br />team is certain to produce an exciting and victorious season for the <br />Cavaliers in 1979-80; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />. Charlottesville that Ralph Sampson is hereby welcomed to the Charlottesville, <br />area as a student, athlete, and member of the.community; and be it further <br />RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council is directed to send a <br />certified copy of this Resolution to Ralph Sampson and to Terry Holland, <br />Head Basketball Coach at the University of Virginia. <br />Adopted by the Council <br />June 4. 1979 <br />Copy Teste: <br />Clerk of the Council <br />• <br />
