A RESOLUTION <br />ADOPTING A REVISED COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR THE <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />WHEREAS, this Council in 1979 adopted a Comprehensive Plan <br />for the City of Charlottesville; and <br />WHEREAS, the Code of Virginia requires such plan to be <br />reviewed every five years, and the City Planning Commission, in <br />consultation with the Social Development Commission, has completed <br />such a review; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission, by resolution adopted <br />on July 10, 1984, certified to this Council a document recommended <br />for adoption as the revised Comprehensive Plan for the City of <br />Charlottesville; and <br />WHEREAS, such document was the subject of a duly advertised <br />public hearing held at a meeting of this Council on September 4, <br />1984; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />that the aforesaid document, containing 220 pages, certified by <br />• resolution of the City Planning Commission on July 10, 1984, is <br />hereby approved and adopted in the following manner: <br />(1) The section of such document entitled "Introduction", <br />"Philosphy and Overall Goals", "Community Issues", "Community <br />Profile", "Neighborhoods and Census Tracts", "Natural Environment", <br />"Land Use", "Housing", "Recreation and Open Space", "Transportation", <br />"Energy and Utilities", "Economic Development", and "Implementation <br />Strategy", and including a city-wide land use plan map as presented <br />by the Department of Community Development and approved by the <br />Planning Commission to be printed as an insert to such document, <br />are hereby adopted as the official Comprehensive Plan of the City, <br />pursuant to Article 4 of Chapter 11 (§§15.1-446, et seq.) of the <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. Such sections (to be printed <br />on grey. pages in such document) shall have the full force and effect <br />conferred upon comprehensive plans by such Article and other pro- <br />visions of general law. <br />(2) The remaining sections of such document shall not be <br />deemed to be part of the official Comprehensive Plan of the City, <br />but shall be considered as supplemental statements of background <br />data, existing and anticipated future conditions and policy con- <br />siderations for general reference by the City Council, City <br />• administration, boards, commissions and agencies in planning and <br />making decisions affecting those matters which are the subject <br />of such supplemental statements. <br />Approved by Council November 19, 1984 <br />erc ot Council <br />
