A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A REVISED COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE WHEREAS, this Council in 1979 adopted a Comprehensive Plan for the City of Charlottesville; and WHEREAS, the Code of Virginia requires such plan to be reviewed every five years, and the City Planning Commission, in consultation with the Social Development Commission, has completed such a review; and WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission, by resolution adopted on July 10, 1984, certified to this Council a document recommended for adoption as the revised Comprehensive Plan for the City of Charlottesville; and WHEREAS, such document was the subject of a duly advertised public hearing held at a meeting of this Council on September 4, 1984; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that the aforesaid document, containing 220 pages, certified by • resolution of the City Planning Commission on July 10, 1984, is hereby approved and adopted in the following manner: (1) The section of such document entitled "Introduction", "Philosphy and Overall Goals", "Community Issues", "Community Profile", "Neighborhoods and Census Tracts", "Natural Environment", "Land Use", "Housing", "Recreation and Open Space", "Transportation", "Energy and Utilities", "Economic Development", and "Implementation Strategy", and including a city-wide land use plan map as presented by the Department of Community Development and approved by the Planning Commission to be printed as an insert to such document, are hereby adopted as the official Comprehensive Plan of the City, pursuant to Article 4 of Chapter 11 (§§15.1-446, et seq.) of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. Such sections (to be printed on grey. pages in such document) shall have the full force and effect conferred upon comprehensive plans by such Article and other pro- visions of general law. (2) The remaining sections of such document shall not be deemed to be part of the official Comprehensive Plan of the City, but shall be considered as supplemental statements of background data, existing and anticipated future conditions and policy con- siderations for general reference by the City Council, City • administration, boards, commissions and agencies in planning and making decisions affecting those matters which are the subject of such supplemental statements.
