0 <br />• <br />RESOLUTION <br />SUPPORTING H.R. 1079 - MOBILITY ASSISTANCE ACT OF 1991 <br />WHEREAS, there is a continuing need to provide mass <br />transit in our area, as evidenced by recent appeals by the <br />public to continue Charlottesville Transit Service Route 8 <br />from Greenbrier to Piedmont Virginia Community College; and <br />WHEREAS, there is a continuing need for accessible <br />transit for the disabled, as seen by the outpouring of <br />support for continuation of low fares for JAUNT riders; <br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the City Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville, Virginia supports U. S. House <br />Resolution 1079 to authorize funds for mass transportation <br />programs, especially for support of accessible <br />transportation. <br />We commend Representative L. F. Payne for his <br />sponsorship of the bill and urge support by the rest of the <br />Virginia Congressional delegation as well as by the House <br />Committee on Public Works and Transportation and by the <br />Senate Environmental and Public Works Committee. <br />We resolve to write to send copies of this resolution to <br />members of the Virginia Congressional delegation and to the <br />Chairs of the two Congressional committees to urge support <br />for this legislation. <br />Approved by Council <br />April 1, 1991 <br />1 rk of City Council <br />
