• RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR <br />(1) REGIONAL PURSUIT OF HUD HOME FUNDING AND <br />(2) EXTENSION OF THE REGIONAL HOUSING STRATEGY ADVISORY <br />PANEL'S TENURE <br />WHEREAS, there is a need to develop a regional housing <br />strategy for the localities in the Thomas Jefferson Planning <br />District; and <br />WHEREAS, the regional housing strategy should address <br />the issues of the provision of affordable housing, of the <br />rehabilitation of substandard housing, and of the development <br />of programs that promote homeownership for all constituents <br />in the Thomas Jefferson Planning District; and <br />WHEREAS, the HOME program offered by HUD provides an <br />opportunity for the localities within the Thomas Jefferson <br />Planning District to develop and implement a regional housing <br />strategy and to secure federal funds to implement the <br />strategy; and <br />WHEREAS, the work of the Regional Housing Strategy <br />Advisory Panel is required to see the preparation of the <br />Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategy (CHAS) through <br />to completion by October, 1992; <br />(1) THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Charlottesville <br />City Council does support a regional intent to apply for the <br />HUD HOME program by March 31, 1992 and so authorizes the City <br />Manager to act as the agent of the Council; and <br />(2) BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Charlottesville <br />City Council does expand the charge of the Regional Housing <br />Strategy Advisory Panel in order to apply for the HUD HOME <br />program by October, 1992 and seek HUD funding. <br />Approved by Council <br />January 21, 1992 <br />F <br />C erk of Council <br />
