A RESOLUTION
SUPPORTING PEDESTRIAN SAFETY LEGISLATION
• PROPOSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA
•
•
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Charlottesville as follows:
That the City supports the City of Alexandria's efforts seeking legislation that
will require all drivers statewide to stop, not yield, at cross walks on roadways
where the speed limit does not exceed 35 mph. The legislation should call on
pedestrians to cross streets responsibly, by using cross walks, and by making
sure that drivers have time to safely stop before the pedestrian begins to cross a
street.
2. The Clerk of Council is directed to forward a copy of this Resolution, along
with a copy of the corresponding legislative proposal from the City of
Alexandria, to the City's elected representatives in the General Assembly and
to the Alexandria City Council.
Approved by Council
December 7, 2009
C er of City Council
