A RESOLUTION <br />SUPPORTING PEDESTRIAN SAFETY LEGISLATION <br />• PROPOSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA <br />• <br />• <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Charlottesville as follows: <br />That the City supports the City of Alexandria's efforts seeking legislation that <br />will require all drivers statewide to stop, not yield, at cross walks on roadways <br />where the speed limit does not exceed 35 mph. The legislation should call on <br />pedestrians to cross streets responsibly, by using cross walks, and by making <br />sure that drivers have time to safely stop before the pedestrian begins to cross a <br />street. <br />2. The Clerk of Council is directed to forward a copy of this Resolution, along <br />with a copy of the corresponding legislative proposal from the City of <br />Alexandria, to the City's elected representatives in the General Assembly and <br />to the Alexandria City Council. <br />Approved by Council <br />December 7, 2009 <br />C er of City Council <br />
